JR's Blog: JIM CORNETTE & MAGNUM TA TERRY ALLEN ON ROSS REPORT PODCAST TONIGHT, RAW, REID FLAIR CONTROVERSY, @HOBDallas TKTS

Posted: Nov 18th 2015 By: Jim Ross

A new The Ross Report Podcast drops tonight at 9 ET on podcastone.com and iTunes plus here on the homepage of our website. It's FREE and I strongly suggest that you considering subscribing to the Ross Report @iTunes for FREE and never missing a show as they are downloaded into your device of choice automatically. Jim Cornette and Magnum TA Terry Allen both join me to talk about several topics that were pre-recorded when I saw them in Charlotte. We cover lots of ground and I hope that you will tune in and tell a friend about our podcast if you care to help. We are grateful for our show's growth an thank you all for being a part of it.

Thanks for the kind words on my story on the late, great Nick Bockwinkel that I posted Monday here on the site. Nick was a pure, class act and for my money is one of the greatest in ring psychologists I ever saw wrestle. Even though this may fall on deaf ears as some talents in the biz I'm sure think that I'm too old school to be relevant, but I assure each of those individuals, men or women, that they can learn a great deal of amazing nuances from watching Nick's work on the WWE Network, You Tube, ETC.

It's been amazing the positive interactions that I've received regarding our podcast with Chris Park aka Abyss. My conversation with Chris is one of the best that we've had on our podcast which is airing episode 92 this week. @TheRealAbyss is an engagingly intelligent man with a Masters Degree in Sports Management from the prestigious Ohio University.

Lots of emotions being vented about the closing segment involving Charlotte and Paige as they were given the opportunity to close the show on RAW and sell their title bout this Sunday in Atlanta at the Survivor Series. Apparently the script called for Paige, the villain, the invoke the name of Charlotte's late brother Reid in a less than favorable context that set off a much needed round of physicality. Should the line about Reid have been used? Did WWE cross the line as many vocal dissenters apparently feel? Is reality based content fair game in the world of WWE and pro wresting in general?

It is a subjective question to say the least and most fans seemingly are going to detest it or be non plussed about it. There likely won't be much middle ground.

I had more issues with the length of the dialog exchange than the controversial choice of words than I did with the use of Reid Flair within the explanation of the fictional rivalry between Charlotte and Paige. In theory the personal issue element added to the Title being at stake and that will be decided is spot on in theory but some are simply not going to ever accept the Reid Flair aspect of theory no matter what any one says.

After hearing the line and being able to think about it, I'll play post, RAW quarterback and say I'd have passed on using it.

Nonetheless the Carolina RAW wasn't bad but, as I always do, I watched the WWE's flagship show on DVR. 15 commercial breaks is just too long for me these days plus I do podcast work on Monday nights because our new shows drop every Tuesday evening at 9 ET.

Strong outing IMO between Reigns and Cesaro. The "Roman Empire" line is pure pandering and won't work unless WWE is planning on Reigns joining the Authority eventually because the fans won't cut Roman a break as in booing him out of the arena when the Roman Empire line is used. This isn't Austin asking the fans to give him a "Hell, Yeah!"

However, an Authority-lead heel run by Reigns from Survivor Series to Summer Slam has merit.

Old school, bookers like Graham, Watts, Shire, Gagne, Jarrett, Barnett, Muchnick, Boesch and more would have printed money with Cesaro, IMO. Cesaro would be a great if aligned with a strong manager if one was available not named Paul Heyman.

Stout bout between Owens and Neville. The Brit's near falls worked well. Owens is one of my favorites on the WWE roster. Great personality demonstrated by Neville recently on the Table for Three on WWE Network. Wish I could see that side of him on RAW or Smackdown.

Ambrose vs Ziggler was a tough booking considering that it was fan favorites wrestling to win or to go home tournament match. Many fans wanted neither man to lose but the two had a really nice bout. BTW...I thought some feel that there are no such things as heroes and villains any longer in the genre. Hmm...This match was good evidence on why good guys and bad guys are still relevant.

Looks like it will be Reigns vs. Ambrose in the final the WWE World Title Tournament Sunday but the question is who stabs the other in the back much to the delight of The Authority? It's important have Authority involved because HHH and Stephanie are both 'over' and their 'rub' can help others get 'over' as well. Or is it Ambrose who becomes the corporate puppet/champion with Reigns chasing him?

Yeah, I know....what about Lesnar?

New Day is getting better at being entertainingly a pain in the backside. If this trio wants to go places as heels then they can't simply make fans laugh at the trio's antics. Funny heels don't sell tickets or increase ratings. For the record, I like these three guys at deal.

Felt the WWE could have done a better job highlighting Taker's 25th Anniversary this Sunday on the WWE Network at Survivor Series. Many fans that interact with me on Twitter @JRsBBQ think that Sunday is Taker's last day which would be news to most including The Deadman.

I think that WWE would better serve themselves and their fans if WWE would attempt to become more creatively unpredictable. I know that is easier said than done but when the most talked creative element on the go home show to the historic Survivor Series is a line in a promo at the end of the show one can make an argument that fans are craving different and new and that the fans will still respond to controversy.

Looks like Destination America is tagging out of the pro wrestling biz. ROH leaving to move to Comet TV....yes, I'm being serious. Comet TV launched on Halloween. Find it if you can. I watch ROH Wrestling on my local Sinclair stations.

Where does that leave TNA Impact Wrestling? Some murmurs say it's heading to WGN America. Stay tuned.
