REVIEW: Timeline WCW 1985 with Magnum T. A.

The Timeline: History of the WWE 1985 presentation was handled by Hall of Famer Greg ?the Hammer? Valentine. He was pretty good. But KAYFABE COMMENTARIES went all out for their
TIMELINE: HISTORY OF WCW 1985, they picked the hottest babyface in Jim Crockett Promotions from 1985-87, TERRY ?MAGNUM TA? ALLEN. Personally I would have chosen his bitter rival Tully Blanchard but I am biased. Magnum had arrived on the scene from Bill Watts? Mid-South Wrestling & would dominate storylines created by the late Dusty Rhodes & JJ Dillon. In addition to covering the layout of Jim Crockett Promotions (it became WCW in 1988), Magnum & host SEAN OLIVER cover:

The circumstances on how he left Mid-South to join JCP, Magnum?s feuds with Wahoo McDaniel & Tully Blanchard over the United States Heavyweight championship, fighting NWA World Heavyweight champion ?Nature Boy? Ric Flair including ?the Suit? & the ?$1,000 Challenge?, the arrival of the
promotion on Superstation WTBS, JPC doing shows in Philadelphia & California, the Great American Bash with musical performances on the show, the promotion being part of the AWA SuperClash in Chicago & Starrcade doing dual shows from Charlotte & Atlanta where he had arguably the best steel cage bout with Blanchard for the US title (must be watched by all who read this.)

They also cover the arrivals in JCP/WCW of ?Nature Boy? Buddy Landel, ?the Perfect 10? Babydoll (who managed Tully), Arn Anderson (from Alabama), Krusher Krushev (Barry Darsow from Mid-South), Pez Whatley, Abdullah the Butcher (in & out several times), the Midnight Express ( ?Beautiful? Bobby
Eaton & ?Loverboy? Dennis Condrey w/ James E Cornette), Rock-N-Roll Express (from Mid-South), Bill Jack Haynes (in between stints in Florida & Portland) and the departure of Starship Coyote (AKA Scott Hall who leaves for Kansas City/AWA).

Magnum has a great memory of the era, specifically how hot the scene was when he walked into the promotion & competed with the RNR for popularity with the fans. He takes you in the ring and behind the scenes specifically car rides with Rhodes, wrestling Flair in a rain storm, the white hot heat
stemming from the US title change where Baby Doll handed off a roll of quarters to Blanchard plus his retaliation as a security guard & the legendary cage bout, the horrible marketing done by the JCP offices & coming back to wrestle in the territory he grew up watching in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Next on the www.KayfabeCommentaries.com sales list is Breaking Kayfabe with Kevin Nash (10/20), Back to the Territories: Florida with Kevin Sullivan (11/24) & the debut of ChROHnology with hosted by Gabe Sapolsky (November). Also upcoming are YouShoots with Scott Hall & Vampiro plus a
project with Raven. Plus submit questions for YouShoot with Rob Van Dam through youshootdvd@gmail.com through October 14th.
