NEWS
The Lehigh County District Attorney of Pennsylvania announced last week that they have arrested Jimmy Snuka on murder charges. The 72-year-old Snuka was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. The charges stem from the death of Snuka?s then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino back on May 11, 1982. Nancy was murdered at the now former George Washington Motor Lodge. Snuka was never charged and the case was re-opened in 1984 due to her family pressuring authorities. Snuka was arraigned last Tuesday afternoon and sent to Lehigh County Jail in lieu of 10% of $100,000 bail. TMZ Sports reported that someone has bailed out Snuka from the county jail for $100,000.

The arrest of Jimmy Snuka came thanks to the investigative work of the people at The Morning Call, a daily newspaper based in Allentown, PA, which is owned by the same company who runs the Chicago Tribute and the Los Angeles Times. In June 2013, reporters Adam Clark and Kevin Amerman published a long story on the case, interviewing family members, former Whitehall police chief, the then assistant district attorney, and others who at the time were involved in the case. Perhaps one of the most interesting things from the report was that Snuka, along with his boss Vince McMahon, met with the ADA, Whitehall police detectives and the medical examiner just a couple of weeks after the alleged murder. There?s no official record of what went down and the Assistant District Attorney couldn?t recall much either except that Vince was running the conversation. In his 2012 autobiography, Snuka recalls, ?All I remember is [McMahon] had a briefcase with him. I don?t know what happened.? Nancy Argentino?s family said in 2013 that they all believe the police didn?t do enough to find out how Nancy really died. ?It?s just like they squashed it somehow,? Nancy?s older sister Lorraine said. Nancy was 23 at the time of her murder. Following the report of The Morning Call, District Attorney Jim Martin announced in January 2014 that a grand jury would investigate the mystery and thanked the newspaper for their role. You can read the original report from The Morning Call on the death of Nancy Argentino by clicking here. To clear up some confusion from what [I]The Morning Call initially reported, Snuka was not arrested at home in New Jersey. He surrended into custody in Pennsylvania. They have since edited their article.

In a short statement issued to PWInsider.com, WWE reacted to the news that one of its Hall of Famers, ?Superfly? Jimmy Snuka was arrested and charged with third degree murder over the 1983 death of his mistress Nancy Argentino. ?WWE expresses its continued sympathy to the Argentino family for their loss. Ultimately this legal matter will be decided by our judicial system,? the statement read.

After Snuka's arrest, WWE issued a statement on the news, ?WWE expresses its continued sympathy to the Argentino family for their loss. Ultimately this legal matter will be decided by our judicial system.? They then removed Snuka's profile from their website and the Hall of Fame roster, pending the outcome of the murder charges. WWE issued this statement, ?Jimmy Snuka?s non-wrestling ?legends? contract has been suspended and we are currently removing his images from our media platforms pending the outcome of this case.?

The Associated Press wrote a story entitled "Jimmy Snuka charged with 3rd-degree murder in 1983 death of girlfriend" which you can read on SLAM! Wrestling by clicking here.

There's a ton to go over, but from skimming the presentment and reading the mainstream articles so far, it looks like Snuka's conflicting statements and history of domestic abuse were deciding factors on top of the forensic evidence. Snuka's then-wife and Buddy Rogers' widow are among the witnesses who testified. Also, Irv Muchnick deserves a credit for staying on top of this story the way he did for so long. While it was known to Madison Square Garden ringside regulars and some newsletter readers in the '80s, it didn't blow up until his article (written for the Village Voice, who never ran it) got attention in the late '90s via his website.

WWE Hall of Famer ?Superfly? Jimmy Snuka posted a $100,000 bail and is now out of jail. His release came a few hours after he was booked. Lehigh Valley District Attorney James Martin said that Snuka surrendered himself to authorities in Pennsylvania and was not arrested at home as it was reported by The Morning Call yesterday. After he was released from jail, Snuka also gave up his passport. Snuka was arrested after a grand jury found conflicting statements and inconsistencies he gave to police during the years after the 1983 death of his mistress Nancy Argentino. The coverage of the incident in his autobiography also did not help as it differed from the statements he originally gave back then. During the press conference, the District Attorney also revealed that the jury saw over two dozen evidences from the case and new witnesses who came forward after the DA reopened the case 30 years after it went cold. The former WWE wrestler now has his first date with the judge on September 21st, facing charges of third degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. You can watch the whole press conference which was broadcast via Periscope by LehighValleyLive.com reporter Sarah Cassi, which you can watch by clicking here.

LehighValleyLive.com and WABC-TV in New York both talked to members of Nancy Argentino's immediate family about Snuka being charged.

The August 31st episode of "WWE Monday Night RAW", featuring advertised appearances by Sting and The Dudley Boyz, drew 3.894 million viewers. This is up from the previous week?s 3.721 million viewers for the post-SummerSlam episode. For that week?s show, the first hour drew 3.865 million viewers, the second hour drew 3.987 million viewers and the final hour drew 3.831 million viewers. RAW was #2 for the night on cable behind "Love & Hip-Hop" in the 18-49 demographic and #1 for the night in viewership.

Seth Rollins will go in at "Night of Champions" with two titles but he might walk out of the arena with no titles as both his title belts will be on the line. After giving Sting his WWE World Heavyweight Title Match, John Cena came out on RAW and cashed in his rematch for the United States Title against Rollins at "Night of Champions". With every title on the line during the show, Stephanie McMahon had no choice but to give a reluctant "Yes" answer to Cena when he requested it during the final segment. The direction seems to be going towards a Seth Rollins vs. Triple H storyline judging from RAW?s promos and how they?re pitting them against each other.

In a recent Q&A with "Off the Record", Bret Hart said if his brother Owen isn?t inducted next year, he won?t attend another WWE Hall of Fame ceremony until he and Jim ?The Anvil? Neidhart are inducted as a tag team, The Hart Foundation. He also added that he hopes WWE inducts the whole Hart Foundation next year in Dallas ? himself, Owen, Neidhart, Brian Pillman and British Bulldog. To see the video, click here.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dory Funk Jr. had two students who received WWE tryouts last week, Christian Boley and Gabriel Zimmerly.

The TNA vs. Global Force Wrestling feud will peak in two weeks on "Impact Wrestling" in a Lethal Lockdown Match with Dixie Carter and Jeff Jarrett?s company shares on the line.

The Honky Tonk Man recently was asked about TNA?s longevity and their issues with pay. He was asked if he?s surprised TNA is still around and replied "Absolutely. I said in the very beginning, when they were in the infant stage when I was doing my podcast, that they wouldn?t be around in 1 year. But they have outlasted my prediction. If they?re around another year, if they?re still around in 2016, it will be amazing. It will be an amazing feat of longevity for someone who doesn?t pay their bills, doesn?t pay their employees, their checks are late for production people. I?m on record by saying, what kind of a person would not pay your people when you supposedly have millions of dollars and what kind of a person would work for someone who?s constantly late with the payments to you? I understand that young wrestlers need a place to perfect their craft and work and do those things but they send a really bad message to the whole industry. If I work for free for someone, how could I ever go to WWE and ask Vince McMahon to pay me, when he knows I have worked for free for everyone. So he has no reason to ever pay anyone. So it sets a bad precedent for our business."

Global Force Wrestling?s Jeff Jarrett was reportedly in the United Kingdom last week negotiating what may be GFW?s first TV deal for that market, according to PWInsider. GFW is expected to make announcements next week and it could be their first international TV deal.

New matches added on NWAClassics.com feature The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey) vs. Mr. Wrestling II & Magnum T. A., Wahoo McDaniel vs. Masked Ichiban (w/ Gary Hart), and Bill Dundee vs. Adrian Street.

Roddy Piper's new short film "Portal to Hell" has its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th and September 18th at the Scotiabank Theater. It will be part of the "Short Cuts Porgramme 4" with a number of other short films.

Warrior Creations and Dana Warrior are now selling a $9.99 ?Warrior Speaks? digital download and billing it as a one-time event. The actual speech given by The Ultimate Warrior featured in the download, was recorded back in June 2012.

Bret Hart did a Periscope Q&A this past week with TSN and had some negative comments about Hulk Hogan. Bret said he hopes Hogan never comes back and he doesn?t remember him as a racist but he?s kind of glad Hogan got busted. Hart also said Hogan is probably glad Roddy Piper died because his passing took the edge off the Hogan scandal. Hogan responded with a tweet with "The words about Roddy Pipers death were out of line,I'm praying for you Brett Hart, only love my brother HH".

Harley Race talks about Hulk Hogan in a video you can watch by clicking here.

Out of all the deaths we?ve had in this crazy business, that one kind of hit me the hardest." On Jerry Lawler?s backstage demeanor, he said "Jerry Lawler, if you know him, is not the kind of person to rub pleasantries in your face. He?s kind of about Jerry Lawler, and I don?t mean that as an insult, that?s just how he is."
