WWE 'Night Of Champions' 2015 Rumors: 5 Possible Outcomes To Sting vs. Seth Rollins, Potential Sheamus Cash-In
Posted: Sep 6th 2015 By: Mike Smollins - SportsWorldNews.com
In a weekend full of surprises, the WWE saved its biggest shock for last as Sting returned to the company on Monday Night RAW.
To close out the third straight night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon invited new United States and reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins out to reveal a statue for him. When the curtain dropped, "The Vigilante" was standing on the platform and he attacked "The Architect."
Triple H then revealed in WWE Network interview that Sting will now battle Rollins at Night of Champions on Sept. 20 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Tex. "The Game" didn't specify if the WWE World Heavyweight or U.S. Championships will both be on the line.
"I should have finished Sting when I had a chance at WrestleMania, but I didn't," Triple H told Renee Young. "So now we're in this problem. So Sting wants a match with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion? That's what he wants, right? He wants Seth Rollins? Well guess what? Be careful what you wish for Sting, because now he's got it. At Night of Champions, Sting wants Seth Rollins? Sting is gonna get Seth Rollins. He's gonna get every single bit of Seth Rollins."
With the match now official, here's a look at five potential outcomes to Sting vs. Rollins.
1) A Stinger Splash or Rollins Retention
The WWE could very well play it straight and have one of these two men leave the Toyota Center with a clean victory. After building up a legendary career in WCW and following it up with a Hall of Fame tenure in TNA, Sting finally made his debut at WrestleMania 31 in a loss to Triple H.
It's hard to see Sting losing twice early in his WWE tenure, so it's conceivable that he could walk away as the new champion. Sting, 56, is a four-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion and a six-time WCW Heavyweight Champion.
Rollins, meanwhile, has been carrying the WWE's biggest title since WrestleMania 31, but the booking for him as champion has been questionable. The former Shield member could use a big, clean win to raise his stock by knocking off a veteran like Sting.
2) Authority Rules
Though Triple H and Sting shook hands after their WrestleMania 31 clash, the rivalry is at full strength again as "The Game" was agitated at the legend for thwarting off his plans with Rollins on Monday. The Authority could always get involved at Night of Champions as Triple H could help his hand-picked No. 1 Superstar defeat "The Vigilante."
3) Irish Curse
One can never count out Sheamus getting involved as the "Celtic Warrior" is still Mr. Money in the Bank. Sheamus has held onto the contract since winning it in June, but he can strike at any time. The Irish Superstar recently tried to cash-in on Rollins on RAW, but his plans were foiled by Randy Orton.
With the event being aptly named Night of Champions, Sheamus could become the new title-holder by disrupting the main event - or waiting to strike after it - in order to leave with the gold.
4) Cena 'Nuff
With Rollins already moving on to a new feud, it will be interesting to see what the WWE has planned for John Cena on Sept. 20. The "Cenation" leader was screwed out of tying Ric Flair with his 16th World Championship reign by SummerSlam host Jon Stewart on Sunday.
With Cena seemingly out of the title picture for now, he could end up getting involved in the proceedings at Night of Champions. Cena could look to get some revenge on Rollins by coming out to the ring and helping "The Vigilante" win his first gold in the WWE.
5) 'Deadman' Rising
There have been rumors for years that The Undertaker and Sting will one day do battle at WrestleMania, but nothing has come to fruition yet. It appeared that when the former WCW and TNA icon finally signed with the WWE, these two legends would collide at WrestleMania 31 last March. The WWE opted to have 'Taker face Bray Wyatt and Sting battle Triple H.
With both men residing in Texas and WrestleMania 32 emanating live from AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on April 3, 2016, perhaps this is the year their paths will finally cross.
The Undertaker could jump-start a feud by getting involved with Sting and costing him his chance to win the WWE Championship in just his second match in company history. While this is a possibility, there are some factors that may work against it coming to fruition at Night of Champions.
For one, The Undertaker is still embroiled in a feud with Brock Lesnar and it appears as though the two men are due for one more match now that their rivalry is tied 1-1 after "The Deadman's" controversial win at SummerSlam. Second, for The Undertaker to cost Sting, he would play a heelish role, something he hasn't done since his transition back into being the "Demon from Death Valley."
Still, as Vince McMahon's company proved in its shocking stint in Brooklyn over the past couple of days, anything can happen in the WWE.
