WWE News: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Ric Flair criticize WWE's use of Sting

Sting?s run in WWE began last November, when he appeared at the company?s annual Survivor Series event and helped Team Cena pick up the win over The Authority, which, for a short time, put The Authority out of power. At that point, it was apparent that WWE was planning on having Sting take on Triple H at WrestleMania four months later.

In the months leading up to his match with Triple H at this year?s WrestleMania, almost everyone had predicted that Sting would come out on top because it was going to be his first, and maybe, only match in WWE. But that didn?t happen as Triple H defeated ?The Icon,? which left several people baffled, including WWE Hall of Famers ?Stone Cold? Steve Austin and Ric Flair.

In the days leading up to SummerSlam, ?Stone Cold? appeared on Ric Flair?s podcast ? WOOOOO! Nation? and the two covered a variety of topics, including whether or not they think Sting should go into the WWE Hall of Fame, and whether or not they agree with what WWE has done with Sting up to this point.

Both Austin and Flair agreed that Sting should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, possibly as early as next year leading up to WrestleMania 32. They also agreed that WWE has, up to this point, dropped the ball on Sting, saying that they shouldn?t have beaten him in his first match in the company.

Austin: I thought, ?man, you bring Sting in here and you beat him?? Man, do something where it looks like you?re going to do the screwjob, but then something happens and [Sting] goes over on Triple H, who we all love. If you?re going to bring Sting in, put him over.?

Flair: I didn?t like that, myself.?

Sting is set to face Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this month?s Night of Champions pay-per-view, and it?s entirely possible that he?ll end up losing again, making him 0-2 in WWE. Furthermore, the rumor is that he?s going to be taking on Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 32, which could end up being his retirement match. So, there?s a strong possibility that he?ll lose there as well.

If Sting does end up winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, his moment may not last long as Sheamus could end up cashing in his Money in the Bank contract immediately after Sting?s victory and walk out of Night of Champions as the new WWE Champ.
