Cheryl Briggs knows how to throw a birthday bash.

You start with some great BBQ, add in some rockin? music, then invite all your friends, and their friends. And for presents, you ask for toys to help fill hospital toy closets. What you end up with is the 2nd Annual Cheryl Briggs Birthday Bash and Ryder?s Army Toy Run.

Sunday, June 28, hundreds of bikers met at Mack Taylor Park off Highway 11 in Sperry, then rode through Sperry and Skiatook ending up at the Country Corner Fire Dept for Ryder?s Army Toy Run. ?The toys and donations go to helping kids with cancer, keeping hospital toy closets full, and helping those in need in the community,? Cheryl Briggs of Oklahoma Biker said.

Wresting for a Cause was also there to entertain and raise money to help families impacted by childhood cancer. Tim Johnson, founder of Wresting for a Cause said they perform the wresting matches every month in a town with a child who has cancer, mostly around the Tulsa Metro area. ?100% of the benefits go to the family we are there to help,? Johnson said. Wrestling for a Cause is made possible by the generosity of sponsors and communities. The prganization has raised over $10,000 to help families impacted by childhood cancer.

The Old School BBQ cookoff brought Pit Masters from near and far. Skiatook's own Smokin? Okies Hog Wild BBQ took home 3rd place. 1st place overall went to Hillbilly Style BBQ and 2nd place went to Double J Smokers. People's Choice went to The Dawg Pound BBQ for an entry from Darlene Trapp out of Plum Grove Texas.

The event brought in 2,000 toys and over $16,000. ?Six families received $2,262.50 each,? Briggs said. You can still donate money or toys bu calling (918) 644-1267.
