JR's Blog: @RealMelina Rocks Ross Report Podcast, $20 General Admission Tickets still Available for RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross Show in San Jose, PED's, WWEShop RE-Stocking JR's, Jeff Jarrett
Posted: Mar 13th 2015 By: Jim Ross
Good to be back home in Oklahoma after a couple of days in LA attending the premier of the hilarious film WHAT NOW? which has a distinctive wresting flavor and features such noteworthy names as DDP, Jake Roberts, X-Pac and yours truly. WHAT NOW? will be on virtually all major cable systems beginning April 3 on VOD and I encourage you to check it out. It's damn funny and we had a wonderful time filming it.
Our Ross Report Podcast with Melina is getting some amazing feedback. She's honest and upfront and dispels many rumors about her career in WWE and updates us with what she's doing today proving that there is life after wrestling even though many wrestlers would argue that point. @RealMelina is honest and forthcoming and I think every one will really enjoy this podcast especially the ladies. Life in wrestling and being on the road for a female is more challenging than it is for me, in my opinion.
Download and subscribe to the Ross Report for free at iTunes and listen to it at podcastone.com, iTunes and jrsbabq.com.
Next week my guest will be Jim Cornette in what will be an uproarious visit with one of the all time great managers and brilliant, wrestling minds of any generation.
I sincerely appreciate everyone's support in helping build our podcast brand in a very crowded field of wrestling personalities. Please tell your friends about our show and ask them to give us a try. Many folks are just discovering us and we have over 50 back shows for you to catch up and they are all free for the downloading.
$20 tickets remain for our RINGSIDE w/ Jim Ross Show during WrestleMania weekend on Saturday March 28 at 1 pm at the Rockbar Theater in San Jose. Tickets can be purchased at ticketweb.com or at the door the day of the event. The VIP Meet & Greet tickets sold out several days ago. This will likely be the biggest show that we've done to date. More dates are being set as we speak for more RINGSIDE shows.
We had some productive meetings in LA the past couple of days and my itch to get back into some form of play by play needs scratching. Boxing and MMA folks are speaking with us and where that goes is anyone's guess but I'm told that it looks positive multiple fronts.
Read where UFC is inching closer to being able to run their events in New York state after years of being blocked by professional politicians with their own monetary, personal agendas or so it seems. What a pathetic reason for blocking the fans of the state from seeing high level MMA when New York allows amateur MMA which is more dangerous in the opinion of many smarter than I. It's actually somewhat embarrassing that a state such as New York would allow politicians with agendas to block a main stream sport from bringing NEW money into the state. How is that serving the residents many of whom would benefit greatly with more life sporting events including UFC.
Performance enhancing drug use is an issue in many sports, including MMA, and the only way that I see of truly addressing this epidemic is to make sure that the penalty for the first offense is one step away from being a career ender. How would a two year ban from the sport affect this matter which should include the fighters management team? They baby sit these athletes day and night and for them to say that they didn't know is too far fetched to believe.
Contingency attorneys must be licking their chops on the thought of expected litigation on the allegations directed to the Bill DeMott matter. If I were them I might not spend that money just yet.
Smart move by WWE to tour outside their home base of Florida as it helps the talents in a multitude of ways. Poor travelers don't make great roster members in my view. Plus, by booking some experienced talents with the younger ones the 'rookies' will improve exponentially faster. Fact: rookies cannot improve as needed working only with other rookies.
Steve Austin will be on Inside MMA Friday night on @AXSTV.
Getting lots of questions about what's next for Global Force Wrestling and I expect Jeff Jarrett to address this matter after WrestleMania. However if he does to a series of TV tapings I do think that doing them in Las Vegas is a splendid idea. Begs the question, if Jeff actually is planning on taping TV, could a network deal be too far behind? Yes, Jeff and I are talking but there is no "deal" on the table at this time.
The Q&A's are updated here and for those that are ball-less and wanted to take me to task about the Bill DeMott saga or the SAE Fraternity at Oklahoma University you will notice that your profane rants did not make the cut. Bottom line is this...if DeMott is guilty then he doesn't need to be training WWE developmental talents and the racist, rich boys at OU in SAE are history and don't deserve to attend a university of OU's caliber and are not Sooners and never were. What else is there for me to say?
I did some interviews here in Norman for the upcoming Jerry Lawler DVD that will be released on May 19. I'm sure it will have some classic content on it that you will enjoy. I hope that you buy it.
WWEShop.com has had the best problem of all in that the demand for JR's products has far exceeded the supply but reinforcements are in route and they should be fully re-stocked any hour now. Our Chipotle Ketchup and Jalapeno Honey Mustard aka JR's Main Event Mustard are lighting it up!
Glad to see Tyrus FKA Brodus Clay sign a long term deal with TNA. I have always liked his upside but realized that monster heels in their mid 30's can be perceived to have short shelf lives but generally their style of working allows them to stick around longer....see Abdullah the Butcher. Tyrus reminded me of the One Man Gang in the Watts days. I hope TNA realizes that he's an attraction and not an every day player so that he doesn't get overexposed. Nonetheless Tyrus is a serious heel and not a comedy act IMO.
Who does better backstage vignettes in the wrestling business than does Lucha Underground?
If you're ever in LA check out the Palomar Hotel on Willshire Blvd. Awesome hotel.
Thanks for stopping by and loyally supporting our family's efforts. Your loyalty is sincerely appreciated.
