A Clean Break! Mr. Nasty Dumps The Cartel, Becomes 3-time HTH Champion

Sometimes people don't know that they are enslaved. They are given acceptance, camaraderie and a sense of purpose because of the people they associate with. And even if they do everything they group asks, sometimes it just isn't enough.

UWE United States Champion Robert Lee had been a solid member of the Caballero Cartel since the inception of WFC. Twice he had captured the WFC Hometown Heroes Title. His most recent victory over Striker had ended with him being challenged by Striker to stand on his own two feet and become his own man. It didn't seem like that challenge would be met when the Caballero Cartel came to the ring to celebrate Jon Cross' victory in the Rumble For A Cause. That win had given Cross a title opportunity against any champion. Since Lee had the WFC Hometown Heroes title, it seemed as if the obvious choice would be for Cross to take a partner and challenge for the WFC Tag Team Titles. But Cross surprised everyone by proclaiming Lee the weak link in the Cartel and making it clear that he wanted that title. After making that pronouncement, the Cartel proceeded to beat down Lee until Tim Rockwell, Brian Breaker and Double D made the save.

Lee certainly had no problem stepping up to the plate to accept the challenge put forward by Cross and the former stablemates faced off as foes with the Hometown Heroes championship at stake. But the numbers game that once helped Lee keep the title now worked against him as the presence of a freshly returned Dutch Hagen as well as Cast-Iron Cothern and Stevie Caballero all provided too much of a distraction. While the referee was distracted, Cross hit Lee with the title belt and pinned him to become the new champion.

As usual, a title rematch clause was in the contract and that rematch was set for December 7 in Claremore. The match was one of the most physically demanding of both men's careers as the man who now simply wanted to be known as "Mr. Nasty" vowed to win the title back and prove that could live up to the challenge of Striker. Both men brought their A games and Cross even suffered a bloodied nose in the midst of everything. Once again, it looked like the outside interference factor would be decision maker in the match as Dutch Hagen came out after referee Chance Snodgrass was knocked out. Hagen put Nasty down with the Dutch Oven and scooted out of the ring, then Mike Two was sent to the ring to carry on officiating the match. But amazingly, Nasty kicked out at two. And no matter what Cross did after that, Nasty would not stay down. In a tremendous display of determination, Nasty did exactly what he said he was going to and pinned Cross in the middle of the ring to become a 3-time WFC Hometown Heroes Champion!

Nasty was overcome with emotion after winning the title once again and as Robbie Austin attempted to get some words from him about his win, all he could do was fall to his knees in front of the girl that the show was a benefit for. Mr. Nasty had proven that did not need the Cartel to be successful. He could be his own man and he proudly stood not just a hero to the people who came to the event, but also to himself.
