ComPro Tag Titles Vacant!!! Who Will Win the Belts on December 6th?
Posted: Nov 23rd 2014 By: Michael Hunt
With the recent vacancy of the ComPro Tag Team Championship, those belts became a major focus for many teams in and out of the company. The Brotherhood of Mayhem had been dominate champions for almost a year, but now those titles could belong to just about anyone. ComPro has announced that the titles will be filled at their December event, but the question on most peoples mind is: Who will get the opportunity?
Back in June, with the Brotherhood in full possession of those titles, the strongest challengers came from outside the state. The New York Express, Thomas Knight and Jeff Knight, arrived in ComPro as the OECW Tag Team Champions, but knew that they needed to capture the ComPro Tag Team Titles to be recognized as one of the greatest tag teams ever. Also, The Nebraska Express, who had been making some plays for the MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Titles held by the K. C. Wolves, entered ComPro. All three of these teams faced off in a Triple Threat Match. The power of Menace 2nd, the ring generalship of Malice, the underhandedness of the Knights and the enthusiasm of Brian Blade and Flex were all on display in a very long and hard fought match. In the end, the Brotherhood retained after executing a Rockerplex on Jeff Knight. But over the summer, things would get even more confusing.
When ComPro returned from their summer hiatus, it was announced that Spanish Wolf would receive a title opportunity. But Malice was ill and unable to compete. The New York Express came out to taunt the youngsters and challenged them to a match to determine the #1 contenders to the ComPro Tag Team Titles. They felt so confident in their abilities, they put their OECW Tag Team Titles on the line. That would prove to be their downfall as the young duo used their tag team prowess to pin the more experienced duo and capture their first tag team gold. Not the championships they were expecting, but still championships they felt they deserved.
That belief would be challenged in October as The New York Express brought their manager and legal expert, Tommy D, to ComPro with them. Even though OECW as its origins in Oklahoma, the federation is currently located in North Carolina and all defenses of those titles must be approved by the North Carolina Athletic Commission. Since that did not happen, the title change could not be considered valid and the titles needed to be returned. Unable to present any legal reason to counter this argument, ComPro commissioner Mike Iles was forced to call out Spanish Wolf and return the titles. But, he quickly followed up by saying that there was really only room for one championship tag team in ComPro. So, with the North Carolina Athletic commission approval, if the New York Express would put their tag titles on the line, they could face The Brotherhood of Mayhem to unify the titles. The NYE agreed and left the ring.
And that was when the most unexpected moment happened as the Saints of Pro Wrestling arrived in ComPro.
For months, C. M. Burnham had been combating the Saints in MSWA. but now Scott Sanders, Shawn Sanders, Tyson Jaymes and The Roc-N-Roll Cowboy arrived in ComPro and had a business deal to discuss with Mike Iles. An attempted bribe by of Iles with a Red Robin gift card did not succeed, but Iles was open to discuss the matter in more detail in his office and left the ring wit the Saints close behind, all while Burnham stared in amazement and fear, knowing the poison of the Saints was potentially in the veins of ComPro.
When main event time arrived, the ring area was just as crowded as the capacity crowd. The New York Express and Tommy D, The Sanders twins and Roc-N-Roll Cowboy, Spanish Wolf and The Brotherhood of Mayhem. Four teams. Two titles. Winner takes all. The Knights seemed to take the brunt of the punishment during the match. But with so many participants involved, everyone had an opportunity to dish a little out. As things broke down towards the end, the Brotherhood went back to what made them champions and executed a Rockerplex on Michael Wolf, pinning him and becoming dual champions.
But in the process, Wolfs knee met Malice's nose and neither came out better for it. Both men were now out of action due to injury and the tag team titles had to be vacated as of November 1st. But even without is tag team partner, Menace 2nd continued on that month in a singles match against Tomas Knight. That match ended in a No-Contest due to the interference of the returned Swamp Men. Surprisingly, Nathan Estrada came to the rescue of Menace and Mike Iles decided to have an impromptu ta team match pitting the Swamp Men against the newly formed and christened Spanish Mayhem. Seeing a great opportunity to pick up were their respective partners had forced them to leave off, Menace and Estrada were successful in their first outing together and now set focus on the tag team championship.
So, come December 6th, who will it be? Obviously, unless new medical reports arrive, The Brotherhood of Mayhem and Spanish Wolf will not be competing as such in the match. But who exactly will be competing for those titles? The New York Express? The Saints of Pro Wrestling? The Nebraska Express? Spanish Mayhem? The Swamp Men? Or could there be some other names out of ComPro's past that come back to challenge for the gold? All that is known for certain is that two people are getting an early Christmas present. And with those titles on the line, everyone needs to be prepared for the opportunity.
