Danny Hodge recently received the Lou Thesz award at the Cauliflower Alley Club banquet in Las Vegas, NV on April 21st.

Apparently when Paul Roma was interviewed for the "Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen" DVD, he said complimentary things about the Horsemen. WWE then told Roma what the others had said about him, and he quickly changed his tone.

WWE Smackdown's new Hillbillies tag team - Ray Gordy (son of former Freebird Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy) and Drew Hankinson - didn't debut at this week's Smackdown tapings due to time constraints.

Apparently Cody Runnels is being referred to by his real name again in Ohio Vally Wrestling, rather than Cody Rhodes. Runnels is the son of "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.

Chris Benoit has an interview in the new Fighting Spirit magazine talking about British wrestlers Marty Jones and Mark Rocco being way ahead of their time. He said he encourages the wrestlers at OVW and Deep South to seek out tapes of Marty Jones. When asked who the best technical wrestler in the game was, he said Finlay hands down, followed by Regal. He also really put over Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels and A. J. Styles in that category, saying in particular he's a big fan of Styles and would love to see him in WWE. He said if there was a guy he'd like to do a program with, it would be Undertaker, since he's never done it, and put over Mr. Kennedy for his charisma.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Robert Roode was originally booked for later on the show at TNA's "Sacrifice" pay-per-view, but Jarrett worked his match and flew back to Nashville to attend to family matters.

TNA management felt The Naturals, Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas, never got over with the Orlando crowd. Stevens and Douglas did themselves no favors when they refused to cut their hair for a new look and push managed by Shane Douglas.

Rumored matches for TNA's "Slammiversary" pay-per-view event on June 17th include Sting vs. Christopher Daniels, TNA World Tag Team Champions Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) vs. The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner) among others. Another rumor floating about has The Latin American Xchange (Homicide & Hernandez, w/ Konnan) taking on some combination of Rhino, Chris Harris, and Hector Guerrero.

NWA Gulf Coast Wrestling owned and operated by Percy Pringle has shut down. Pringle said it was with mixed feelings that he announced the closing effective immediately. He said it was a business decision within the corporate structure. He also said he will "tell it like it is" in time.

Last Monday's Las Vegas Sun at www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/births/2007/may/14/56647294.html has a story on Bill Kazmaier, the one-time world's strongest man, who wrestled for Stampede Wrestling, WCW, and Continental Championship Wrestling. On whether wrestling was a good experience: "Not really. It's really not a good sport and the people aren't good people. You try to get into your locker and it's ten minutes before the match, and somebody has cut off your lock and put somebody else's stuff in and one our your boots is hanging from the ceiling. They're just mean people. Mankind kicked me square in the throat and then ran. He said, 'Man, I just slipped.' But it was for real. It's an avenue to make money but it demeans everything we do."

The NWA Oklahoma Heavyweight Title controversy has taken on a new twist. Apparently when NWA Oklahoma Heavyweight Champion Slam Shady wrestled NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion Chaz Taylor at the NWA Pro event in Houston, TX on April 26th, it was for only the Texas Title, but Shady got on the microphone and said the match should be a belt for belt, but before anything could be done he surprised attacked Chaz before the bell. So it looks as though Shady mentioned it, but Taylor wasn't given the chance to accept. Either way, since NWA Universal management mandated that they did not approve Shady putting the title on the line, the title change stays null and void.

At the conclusion of Texas, Inc.'s NWA Universal Tag Team Title victory over Mass Destruction, Spoiler 2000 blamed The Bounty Hunter for the loss and attacked with a clothesline, followed by a Claw Slam. S2K then applied the Bionic Claw to Bounty Hunter busting him open and making him bleed profusely. Bounty Hunter was taken to a nearby hospital where he was given 6 stitches to close the wound then released.

UniversalWrestling.com the website owned and operated by Ene Watts, former wife of Bill Watts, and her son Micah, will be releasing "Mid-South Wrestling presents Giants, Midgets, Heroes, & Villians" on DVD nationwide on July 31st. The DVD will have a running time of 2 hours and 30 minutes, includes 26 matches in all including:
