Wrestling fun to make PV stop
Posted: Sep 18th 2014 By: Barry Porterfield
The ?Boss? says a group of pro wrestlers, including himself, are hoping to make Pauls Valley a regular stop for their brand of some good old fashioned family fun.
A group of touring wrestlers are going to soon set up a ring and bring their classic good guy against bad guy action to PV.
Based out of Ardmore, the Imperial Wrestling Revolution is scheduled to bring its show to the Reynolds Recreation Center starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.
Adding to the fun is the event is free for all kids who are accompanied by an adult paying to come watch the wrestling.
?We tour the state with professional wrestling like what you see on TV,? says Jerry Bostic, who takes the wrestling name of The Boss.
?We want to establish ourselves and come back to Pauls Valley every three to five months.?
The wrestling card includes former WWE star Jinder Mahal, a special appearance by former OU Sooner quarterback Jamelle Holieway and a roster of wrestlers coming from all over Oklahoma.
According to Bostic, the main idea is to provide an entertainment choice worthy of all ages.
?We want to give families a place they can go for clean, fun entertainment,? he said.
?We?d love to have a good turnout, especially with children. The reason ? kids are free if they come with a paid adult.?
The theme for the local stop is a former WWE wrestler will come in for what Bostic describes as a hostile take over. That he says adds up to the kind of wrestling fun you might see on television.
?He will attempt to take over our company,? Bostic said with a slant to his wrestling side.
?I?m going to defend the championship from this guy on WWE,? he said. ?It?s like watching a movie in person. It will be a smaller version of a WWE production.
?It has that age old good guy versus bad guy theme.?
The difference, he says, is the venue here will have a cozier feel than the larger WWE tours.
?We?re very accessible getting out there meeting people and making ourselves available for photos.?
Around 12 wrestlers are expected to take the ring here that night, he added.
With this stop the idea is to get the wrestling tour established in Pauls Valley.
In other cities the tour has been focused on helping a good local community cause.
For example, Bostic said a recent visit to Durant helped raise around $1,000 for a boys and girls club.
Another stop in Amber raised money for the Grady County Crime Stoppers program.
If the tour does catch on in PV similar fundraising can happen here as well, Bostic said, adding plans are to contact local and area schools to get them involved.
We prefer to do fundraisers and benefits. Our main goal is to give back to the community.?
The PV stop means even more for Bostic, who is familiar with this part of the state.
?I have a lot of family from Wynnewood.?
