Beauty Conquers The Beast As Angry Children Protest!
Posted: Jul 7th 2014 By: CMBurnham
WFC supports children. Its primary cause is to raise money for children's cancer and families stricken with this disease. But it also as an agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Broken Arrow and every year, a special event is put on for children at that club and many from the surrounding area.
On June 24, that annual event was held and over 300 screaming, excited children filled the auditorium. They may not have been familiar with the competitors before the show began, but by the time it was over, many of them were certainly fans.
One of the featured matches pitted IZW Tag Team Champion Bobby Starr against Spike Lopez. It was an obvious contrast of beauty and brawn. Starr is an effeminate competitor who wears a wig and claims to hail from Mount Olympus, calling on the power of the ods and often employing his sceptre to gain an unfair advantage. Lopez is a muscular, tattooed competitor with an amateur background who calls himself The Bartlesville Bulldog. It was clear very early who the fan favourite was going to be in this event as the duo prepared to square off.
And as children tend to do, they did not hold back in their displeasure with the antics of Bobby Starr. Some of the children even attempted to hit or kick him through the guard railings. The children also were thrilled as Lopez outwrestled Starr on almost every occasion, causing Starr to become more and more agitated. As the match went on and Starr become more and more upset, the children got louder and louder in their support for Spike. With the noise from the crowd absolutely deafening, Starr lost his ability to focus and knew that he had to resort to desperate tactics. So, at the first opportunity, Starr schoolboyed Lopez, then grabbed a handful of tights for the win. The children were incredibly upset, but Starr was thrilled that he had crushed the dreams of all of them, as well as moved up the ladder one more step in contention for the WFC Hometown Heroes Title.
Starr and Lopez will surely be back to compete again at the next WFC event on July 20. And hopefully many of these new young fans will not have to wait another year to return and see more of the action they experienced that Wednesday morning.
