WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Ric Flair, Sting and More

Posted: Jun 11th 2014 By: Ryan Dilbert - BleacherReport.com

The latest rumors point to both Ric Flair and Sting appearing for WWE before long.

The evidence for Flair's return is far stronger than it is for Sting to debut. Flair has a signed deal with the company and just had to visit some physicians before he could take on his latest role. As for Sting, the buzz about his potential arrival increased after word of a WWE-related casting call made the rounds.

The other big story traveling across the Internet centers around a match WWE is considering adding to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

Will Flair be at that show in someone's corner? The path has at least been cleared for that to happen.

Ric Flair

WWE is set to have a Hall of Famer join the ranks.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, "Flair passed his required medical testing last week in Pittsburgh, paving the way for Flair to return full-time to a regular role with the company." These tests were the hurdle he needed to hop over before coming back to TV.

The question now is what WWE will do with him.

PWInsider.com (h/t WrestlingInc.com) reported earlier that the company rejected the idea of Flair working as Dolph Ziggler's manager. Instead, the word backstage was that "Flair will be put with The Miz again."

Ziggler is the wiser choice of the two, as the move could elevate a star a few rungs below the top.

Miz, on the other hand, is much farther from being relevant again. He is at such a low in his career that even though he's back from filming The Marine 4: Moving Target, he hasn't made it back to TV yet. Perhaps WWE is waiting to pair him with Flair first.

With Brad Maddox out of a job, there is also a position available as Raw General Manager.

Money in the Bank Update

Monday's Raw made it official that the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be decided in a Ladder match at Money in the Bank. Stephanie McMahon and Triple H announced as much, delighting in taking Daniel Bryan's title away from him.

The added stakes will make this a thrilling bout, but it takes away the excitement of having a Mr. Money in the Bank stalking the champ. That may change, though.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t PWMania.com), "WWE officials are considering a second ladder match where the winner would get the future title shot."

It makes sense to do this in that there is inherent drama in having the Money in the Bank winner wait for the right time to pounce. It's also an opportunity for guys like Rusev to compose some memorable moments in the spotlight.

With three weeks left until the pay-per-view, it won't be long before fans see if this is the direction WWE is heading.

Sting Project in the Works

After word of Sting signing with WWE died down once more, a casting call has created new buzz. Something involving WWE is happening with the former TNA star, but it's unclear exactly what.

PWInsider.com's Johnson reported that Tom Martins and Street Gang Films put out a call for a Sting body double. A part of the description reads:

"6'2, 250lb of pure muscle. Prefer a guy with wrestling experience, very fit. HEAVILY muscular. Slightly longer dark hair. Will have a full face of make up on. paying a higher rate as we need a GREAT double for this."

The casting agency is also looking for a full orchestra; each member would be decked out in Sting face-paint.

As to what this is all about, Johnson wrote: "I am told the scenes were being shot for a new WWE videogame, which likely means Sting will be included in a major way in the WWE 2K15 videogame, his debut in a WWE-branded game."

However, a conflicting report confused things. F4WOnline.com (h/t WrestlingInc.com) noted "that this isn't actually a project directly from WWE, but from another agency that works with WWE. It's also not being filmed for WWE programming."

Although two trusted sources pointed elsewhere, the scale and the description of this project make it sound like WWE is filming Sting's debut vignettes. The film project is referred to as a "promo," as seen in this image courtesy of WrestleZone.com.

Sting's potential arrival continues to be 2014's most persistent rumor, one that has new ammo thanks to an orchestra full of "stingers."
