Sharpe Shoots To Top of SWCW, Eyes Competition In MSWA

It's been quite a year for Oklahoma's only deaf pro wrestler, Chaz Sharpe.

Sharpe and his brother Richard were heavily engaged in a feud with the Syndicate over the SWCW Tag Team Titles in 2013, but after losing those titles and being unable to regain them, Rich attacked his brother and it seemed like a family feud was in the making.

That didn't last long, as Rich abruptly left SWCW (and pro wrestling in general) and Chaz was once again on his own. This isn't unfamiliar territory for Chaz, who quickly focused on one thing he had never done: becoming a Heavyweight Champion.

Sharpe's dreams came true (albeit not in the way he wanted or really expected) on April 26, 2014, when the actions of the B. M. F. allowed him to unknowingly pin SWCW Champion Kevin James Sanchez for the title. Upon realising what had happened, Sharpe attempted to relinquish the title back to Kevin, but Sanchez refused, accepting the defeat and vowing the gain some vengeance on SWCW Tag Team Champions Kareem Sadat & Rick Russo as well as their manager, L. J. McDaniel.

The next day, Sharpe faced off against Tyson Jaymes at the MSWA event. Sharpe, who was not originally booked to compete at the show, fought a strong competitive match and Jaymes, who had been struggling to gain a victory since returning to MSWA, matched him move for move. Jaymes actually utilised a move not normally seen in his arsenal: The Figure-Four Leglock. Trapped in the middle of the ring, Sharpe had no choice but to tap out. But in a show of great sportsmanship, Jaymes shook Sharpe's hand after the match was over.

Two weeks later, May 4, Jaymes and Sharpe found themselves facing each other across the ring again. Once again, it was a strong, competitive match, but this time the ending was different with Sharpe picking up the victory over Jaymes. Once again, after the match was over, Jaymes extended the hand of friendship and Sharpe accepted. But this time, after the handshake, Tyson caught Sharpe with an RKO and left him laying the in middle of the ring. He then exited without providing any explanation for his actions.

MSWA's next event is Mid-South Meltdown and it's quite possible that a "rubber match" of some sort may be set up for that event. And Sharpe's first title defence of the SWCW Title may happen at the next SWCW event the night before. Business has certainly stepped up for Sharpe as he continues to break down barriers and demonstrate that he won't let a disability prevent him from being a successful competitor.
