Hinds Throws Down In Streetfight, Puts Bullies In Their Place

No one likes a bully.

And in the world of wrestling, it's even worse, because the bullies can usually be as physically intimidating as they are verbally abusive.

Two of the worst bullies in the state at this time are ComPro Tag Team Champions The Brotherhood of Mayhem. Malice and Menace 2nd have wreaked havoc through ComPro, OWA and recently WFC. Their vicious style combined with their fluidity as a tag team makes them a massive challenge for anyone who steps in the ring with them.

Not to say that they are unbeatable. In February, The BoM put their OWA Tag Team Titles on the line against Mountain Made, the new team of Terry Montana and American Made. Montana and the BoM have had a long history with each other in ComPro when he and Richie Adams were tag team champions there. Now, with a new partner, Montana wanted to continue to be a thorn in the side of the masked duo. And an upset of massive proportions was accomplished when American Made won the OWA Tag Team Titles.

Not willing to accept the loss, the BoM accused referee Chuck Hinds of making a fast count in the match. After some attempts at physical intimidation, the BoM realised that it would not be easy to get their way with Hinds, who has an MMA background and refused to take a step back from the dastardly duo. Malice, always the spokeman for the duo, took the microphone and demanded a 6-man match at the next event. He wanted American Made and Chuck Hinds across the ring from the BoM. OWA promoter John Crow came out to resolve this situation and said that the match WOULD be made, but that he would get to choose the BoM's partner. Malice was certainly uncomfortable with this, but after it was made clear that it was either Crow's way or no way, Malice agreed and the match was set.

OWA did not run an event in March, so after two months of waiting, fans arrived the Sperry Baseball Academy to find out who the mystery sixth man was going to be. But before that could happen, Malice decided to try and take matters into his own hands. During intermission, Malice attacked American Made outside in the parking lot, injuring him enough that medical treatment was required. As a result, OWA commissioner C. M. Burnham announced that he had suspended Malice from the building and that, if the BoM wanted to fight in the streets, he was more than willing to oblige. He made the main event a Sperry Streetfight and the fans were thrilled with this news.

But the revelation of the partner still awaited the arrival of the main event. And that partner was another OWA referee: Thomas Knight. But like Hinds, Knight had a combat background as he and his brother Jeff Knight were the New York Express, a solid tag team who still competed in the Southeast United States on occassion. Hinds and Knight had been in an altercation at a previous OWA event and obviously John Crow wanted them to resolve it in the ring. Under Sperry Streetfight rules (that is to say, NO rules), this match was a brawl from start to finish. Montana and Menace were the powerhouses. Knight was the whipping boy. And Hinds got to get his licks in as well, both giving and receiving. In the end, Montana and Hinds were victorious and it certainly wasn't a pretty scientific bout. But Hinds had dealt with one of the bullies as well as resolved the issue between himself and Knight. Now, he can return to refereeing, knowing that he has proven his point of being more than willing to stand up against the bullies of the wrestling ring.
