Wrestling By The Numbers: Jeff Jarrett

Wrestling By The Numbers: Jeff Jarrett

Posted: Jan 12th 2014 By: mikeiles

TNA Wrestling has parted ways with Executive Vice President Of Developmental & Original Programming Jeff Jarrett. The 46-year-old Hendersonville Tennessee native was a co-founder of TNA Wrestling in May of 2002 along with his father Jerry Jarrett. In his 14-years with the organization Jarrett has been a major player backstage running day to day operations in the early days and later becoming TNA?s Vice President prior to his most recent responsibilities. He was of the people involved in creating the company?s weekly pay-per-view concept when it debuted and was one of the TNA?s top main event talents during the Wednesday night broadcasts. Jarrett had remained a regular in-ring competitor with the organization up until late 2011 when he was removed from television to oversee TNA?s Ring Ka King subsidiary promotion in India. He has competed over the last year with AAA in Mexico while also holding his management role with TNA. Jarrett requested his release from the organization on December 22nd and it was granted and made official by Dixie Carter on January 6th. He will continue to remain as an investor with the company being a 29% minority owner.

Jeff Jarrett is a 28-year veteran of the professional wrestling industry who debuted in 1986 after having been trained by Jerry Jarrett & Tojo Yamamoto. In the early stages of his career he was a huge star with his father?s Continental Wrestling Association and later with the United States Wrestling Association. He also worked for the American Wrestling Association and did tours in Puerto Rico and Japan prior to signing with the WWF in late 1993. Jarrett spent 5-years with the WWF over two separate stints from 1993-1996 and again from 1997-1999. He also had 2-stints with World Championship Wrestling from 1996-1997 and again from 1999-2001. Jarrett was a top main event talent for WCW during it?s final years becoming a former 4-Time WCW Champion. When the WWE purchased WCW in 2001 Jarrett?s contract was not acquired as company officials were still unhappy with how he had left the organization back in 1999. In 2001 he worked mainly in Europe and Australia for World Wrestling All-Stars before launching NWA: TNA the following year.
