Greetings from a frigid Norman, Oklahoma as I prepare to head to an even chillier Manhattan, Kansas for OU vs. K-State Saturday on Fox Sports 1. Let's kick this quick read off...

RIP Maurice 'Mad Dog' Vachon who passed away this week at age 84. The 'Dog' was considered one of the most legit, tough guys in all of pro wrestling for decades. The former Olympic Wrestler from Montreal had one of the most distinctive voices ever that he utilized to make his promos memorable. I'm sure no writer ever gave Mad Dog Vachon his 'lines' before one of his organic, naturally delivered and real feeling promos that made fans forget that the business of pro wrestling was show biz.

Maurice was fearless and embraced being a true, wrestling villain which is becoming a lost art that maybe extinct sooner than later. If that assumption is true, then it does the business no favors. That would make the biz dependent on star power and less on personal issues and villains challenging the heroes in varying scenarios.

I wonder what the over/under is on the larger alpha males in numerous bars around the world who thought they could whip Dog's ass because he was smaller than he appeared on TV. Surprise!

Cowboy Bill Watts while saying that 'Dog wasn't the greatest in ring performer he's saw ranked Maurice Vachon at the top of the list for being a rugged, real bad ass.

Maurice got over by being believable and by being an enhanced version of his true self. He wasn't a creation of someone's imagination.

Oddly, one has to wonder how long a look that Maurice get today in the biz as he was only about 5'8" on his best day.

Maurice Mad Dog Vachon was a natural extension of himself on TV which made his TV persona feel more real and believable. He had "it" without question and will be missed by all that knew him.

RIP to the WWE Hall of Famer and condolences to his family and friends.

Finalizing plans to attend UFC 168 in Vegas in December.

My thanks to Shawn Michaels and Keith Mark for their hospitality for having me as a guest on McMillan River Adventures this past week on the Outdoor Network. Try and catch it online if you can. We had a great time and lots of laughs. Helping control the feral hog epidemic in Texas was exhilarating and exciting. I hope to be able to go back to Shawn's ranch again for another outing. As the late, Road Warrior Hawk would proclaim, "Oh, What a rush!"

We're looking at venues and dates for a JR show, or two, during WrestleMania 30 week in New Orleans. Likely or the Thursday and/or Friday night of WM30 week. Details are still being finalized.

My first show in 2014 will definitely be in New York City and I will have more info regarding the date and venue coming soon.

50 years ago today I was in the 6th grade at Westville, Oklahoma elementary school when we got word that President Kennedy had been assassinated. The announcement, as I recall, was made on the school's public address system. All classes were dismissed early and we loaded onto our school buses and were sent home. Sad, sad day. My Mama was so despondent. Then seemingly just hours later I'm watching the coverage of the assassination of our president when I saw live Lee Harvey Oswald get shot and killed by Jack Ruby. I couldn't believe my young eyes.

Enjoyed Charles Barkley's color commentary on TNA Thursday night during the Thunder vs. Clippers game. Chuck is unfiltered and is a breath of fresh air in today's sports landscape of talking heads. Charles actually paid for Jerry Lawler and Stacey Carter's wedding in Vegas. I know this to be true as I was there.
