WFC fights for Trace McWhirt in Owasso, OK on July 14th

For Immediate Release:

OWASSO, OK - Wrestling For A Cause (WFC) will once again take a stand against cancer with the Trace McWhirt Benefit Show, Continuing a growing tradition of Oklahoma Pro Wrestlers taking to the mat to help families struggling with cancer, we invite you to an afternoon of the best pro wrestling Oklahoma has to offer, with all proceeds going to the family of Trace McWhirt.

Trace McWhirt is currently a 15 year old, Owasso Mid-High Freshman. He is a avid fisherman and hunter. He has a passion for baseball. On May 13, 2011, at age of 13, our lives changed forever, he was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph + B-ALL). His symptoms were similar to the flu, fever, body aches, very tired, and muscle weakness. His fever was always 103.3 every time we checked it. He was a starter 3rd baseman for the Owasso Hooks baseball team and he could barely get the ball from 3rd to 1st. This was very unusual because before the symptoms started, he could throw people out from his knees at 3rd. The symptoms all started when he decided to ride bulls one Saturday. He rode 8 bulls that day. We think the trauma from being bucked off kicked the cancer into high gear, therefore the symptoms started to show. That was roughly 3 or 4 weeks before he was diagnosed. The bull riding was a blessing in disguise.

When he was first examined by the doctors at Saint Francis Children's Hospital, they all thought he was in a farther advanced stage than he really was due to his lean body, they could feel every organ in it's entirety and to them they felt enlarged (meaning higher stage of the cancer). However, we caught it in the beginning stages. His diagnosis is a very rare one. Our oncology staff have only treated 2 other boys with this exact diagnosis and they are not new to this profession. Trace has had one heck of a ride during his treatment so far and now we are at a more predictable stage of treatment. All of the doctor staff at the hospital have called him a medical mystery and that they could write a medical book on him. They have dubbed some of the reactions to drugs the "Trace reactions" because he hasn't gone by the book.

As of now, Trace is finishing up his Freshman year via the online school program. He is working hard to be able to tryout for baseball for his Sophomore year and going to school main stream. He is still fishing, but with special gloves so he can go whenever he likes and handle the fish. He hunts with his grandpa and some of his mom's friends whenever he can. He is back to his "normal" self of pestering his little brother and driving his mom crazy, but all with a giant heart of gold!! The little things we never think about until we don't have them anymore..

On July 14th at 2PM at the Owasso Sertoma Center 405 W. 2nd st, the Trace McWhirt Benefit Show will be held, featuring Team Rockwell versus Team Cross in the main event, as well as The 3rd Rumble For a Cause Battle Royal. Also scheduled to appear are stars like Maddox Jones, Fuel, Brett Stopp, Kyle Kelly, Bull Schmitt "OKB" Striker, Mike Iles. and many more." The event will be hosted by "Space Cowboy" Jason Jones.

Tickets are only $5 at the door for more information call 918-764-5856.
