Brandon Groom won his first professional MMA match, defeating Tracy Willis at the Rage In The Cage event in Oklahoma City.
Traditional Championship Wrestling and The Pursuit Channel announced last week that TCW's weekly 1-hour HD professional wrestling program will air beginning on Fridays at midnight central time. TCW Wrestling will debut on July 5, 2013 and feature professional wrestlers around the world. The show will be available in over 37-million U.S. television households on the Pursuit Channel, a specialty television channel that airs program geared to hunting, fishing, outdoor recreation, and ring sports. Pursuit Channel is on Dish Network channel 240 and on DirecTV channel 604.
The Money In The Bank match participants for the World Heavyweight title were announced during last Friday night?s SmackDown. The seven Superstars who will battle for the briefcase are Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Fandango, Wade Barrett, Damien Sandow, Antonio Cesaro, and United States Champion Dean Ambrose. Unlike the MITB match for the WWE Title, where all seven are former champions, only one in this match, Jack Swagger, is a former World Heavyweight Champion and he got the victory by cashing in his own MITB briefcase several years ago.
A Twitter follower asked Jim Ross about Tazz because it is rumored that Tazz's TNA contract expired last week. JR responded "@Jamie98TV2: @JRsBBQ Is it true that Tazz is returning to WWE?? Been reading the Internet again, right? #Gullible".
As part of a chat with "Inside The Ropes" in his first radio interview since his release from WWE, Matt Striker spoke about his rumored heat with Jerry Lawler. He said "Basically I talk too much, I?m long winded and when I get going the faucet starts dripping and the dreck just comes out, Jerry Lawler is a legend and has been part of the broadcasting team with WWE for over 20 years. When it seemed Jerry was getting annoyed me, he was like 'you?ve got a lot of passions and things to say kid, but come on, shorten it up a little bit.' I had to remember our fan base isn?t the internet, it isn?t the 'smart mark'. Our fan base is that 9 year old kid at home, he does not care about the fact that?insert stupid Matt Striker fact here?all he cares about is John Cena needs to defeat Ryback right now, and Jerry to his credit would constantly try to help me with that. A lot of that stuff was my fault because I was like a 9 year old kid with an open microphone. All Jerry wanted to do was help me, there wasn?t any animosity in the back, it was like a father sitting down his teenage son who doesn?t wanna hear anything, saying this is how it?s got to be." Jeff Jarrett, Brooke Hogan, and James Storm appeared on CMT's "20 Greatest Redneck Videos" which aired on June 29th. Check local listings for rebroadcast in your area.
Tommy Dreamer was a guest on "The Soscia Network" on Mix 106.1 in Philadelphia, PA. In the interview with host Brian Soscia, Dreamer talks about how special Philly is to him and how he feels promoting shows for his federation House of Hardcore. Dreamer also shares stories of his early days training with Johnny Rodz, his first memories of ECW, Terry Funk giving him advice that helped change the course of his career, and Taz going to bat for him. His love for wrestling continues to shine through as he talks about all that the industry has given him. Dreamer also recounts some of his early memories as a fan. Plus, which major wrestler snubbed him when he asked for an autograph? What is the secret to his success? All this and much more. To listen to the interview, click here.
On Sunday, ABC aired the season two finale of "Celebrity Wife Swap", which involved Ric Flair and Roddy Piper swapping their respective partners all for the good of reality television for a week. The episode was taped a few months ago and features one on one interviews with both superstars, footage from their best WWE moments, and their partners. Flair swapped his partner Wendy, who fans might better know as Fifi the Maid from WCW. She has four kids and shares custody with her ex-husband. She says that living with Ric is like "an adventure every day" and he lives like a 21 year old, spending a lot of money and buying a lot of gifts. In complete contrast, Piper lives with his family in Portland, OR and his wife Kitty said that they don't like to go out and like to save money instead. "My wife is with Ric Flair, which is a huge problem," exclaims Piper. may have been the lowest rated show in its history. On the overnights, the show did a 1.0 in 18-49 and 3.22 million viewers. The all-time low was 1.3 in 18-49 and 4.44 million viewers last week. You can watch the full episode, which is pretty funny, by clicking here.
Sportsnet Magazine had a book of sports lists. In the category of famous athletes who were bad with their money, Ric Flair was listed as No. 9. In largest indoor attendance, they listed the worked WrestleMania number as No. 3 behind an NBA All-Star Game and a New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys game at Cowboys Stadium.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame today sent out a release saying that Ric Flair won't be appearing at their ceremony in Waterloo, IA the weekend of July 13th to be inducted into their George Tragos/Lou Thesz Hall of Fame. They are saying that Flair canceled due to a family commitment. However, Flair canceled his induction appearance because he is scheduled for an appearance that day in Los Angeles for an autograph show at The Hollywood Show and Flair needs to make money. It was later announced that Bill Watts will not be attending, although no reason was given. Flair, Watts, and Chris Taylor were set to be inducted but with Flair and Watts canceling and Taylor passing away 34 years ago, no inductees will be in attendance. Edge, Matt Hughes, Dan Gable, Jim Brunzell, George Napolitano, Danny Hodge, Gerald Brisco, Jim Ross, Baron Von Raschke, Mad Dog Vachon, Larry Hennig and Bob Roop are all still scheduled to appear.
Jake Roberts, who has been living with Dallas Page at his Accountability Crib to try and get through rehab, has unfortunately fallen off the wagon as they say, and admitted that he did drink again. DDP released a video with three of his staff discussing that Jake was not being himself and that he was acting funny and then Roberts admitted in a meeting between all of them that he did have a drink. Roberts said he took an old friend out after she got out of jail and things just kinda fell off from there. Roberts asked for one last shot before he goes to rehab again. "I know what's on the line," Roberts said. The video ends just as DDP gets back and Roberts is about to tell him the story after the guys tell him they are not going to be the ones who break it to him. You can see the video by clicking here.
A very emotional Jake ?The Snake? Roberts called his progress at the Accountability Crib with Dallas Page a ?rest of my life project? despite saying it is not easy for him to be there battling drug and alcohol addiction. Last week it was revealed that Roberts fell off the wagon once again and was caught drinking, eventually admitting to his mistake to DDP?s friends. DDP said this is not rehab, but a support group and it doesn?t matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. DDP said Jake is at ?236 days and 4,? since moving to the house and hasn?t used cocaine or crack for over eight months, calling it ?f**king huge.? In the video, Roberts once again set his expectation to make it to the Royal Rumble in one of these years, even if it means he will be the first 100 year old to walk down that aisle. ?I?m not giving up. I?m going to beat this, and I f**king mean it this time,? Roberts said. To see the video, click here.
Irv Muchnick, who published an e-book on Jimmy Snuka's alleged part in the death of Nancy Argentino, which fueled two front page newspaper stories on the 30-year-old case, reported today that sources close to Lehigh County, Pennsylvania District Attorney James B. Martin have told him the office is moving toward taking a fresh look at the case. Martin reportedly has told colleagues he intends to ask Chief Deputy Charles F. Gallagher III to look into the 1983 case in which Argentino died at age 23.
In the July 1st edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter a major update was provided on Jim Cornette. He's dropped a considerable amount of weight, from 248 pounds to 205 pounds. He dropped the weight by cutting back considerably on restaurant eating and by eating a fresh food diet. Cornette attends comic and sci-fi conventions in the Kentucky area, and has just completed a pro wrestling book with Memphis Wrestling Historian Mark James, which will be available in August. Cornette plans on releasing the book at Greg Price's Charlotte Wrestling Convention, and he and Mark James have several ideas for future book ideas with regards to professional wrestling.
The reason Stan Hansen was at New Japan Pro Wrestling?s recent Osaka show is because they are working on a legends deal with him for video games and trading cards, reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Oklafan congratulates James Wilson on his recent engagement to his fianc?e Amanda. Wilson has worked security and backstage for both ComPro and MWA, among others.
Oklafan extends congratulations to the Goldeneye on the birth of his daughter was born July 1st.
Cold Blooded Chris was bitten by a black widow spider and spent time in a hospital last week. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.
Rancid underwent surgery for an infection in his chest Thursday. Oklafan wishes him a speedy recovery.
Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Matt Borne, who passed away at the age of 55. Borne, the son of pro wrestler "Tough" Tony Borne, held the MSW Tag Team Titles with Ted DiBiase and together they were the longest reigning champions in MSW history, holding the titles for 5 months and 13 days. After his MSW run ended, he participated in the very first WrestleMania, where he wrestled Ricky Steamboat. Later, he held the WCCW Tag Team Titles twice, once each with Buzz Sawyer and Jeff Jarrett, and was also a two time WCCW Texas Heavyweight Champion. Later in his career, he wrestled as Big Josh in WCW where he held the United States Tag Team Titles with Ron Simmons, and the World 6-Man Tag Team Titles with Dustin Rhodes & Tom Zenk. After leaving WCW, he went to WWF where he became the 1st wrestler to portray Doink the Clown. After leaving WWF and the Doink persona, he joined ECW where he was known as Borne Again. Over the past few years, Borne had been wrestling on the independent circuit as himself, Doink, or Boink the Clown, the latter due to legal issues. Borne passed away at a Plano, TX hospital. He was transported there after his girlfriend found him unresponsive inside their apartment. Investigators said his death appears to be accidental.
At one point on Sunday, Doink the Clown was the No. 1 trend on Yahoo. Doink the Clown was the No. 9 most searched for item on Google on Friday. Phil Costa, the football player who got engaged Friday night to Brooke Hogan, is the No. 3 most searched for item so far today.
Borne's last post on Facebook was "I HAVE SOO MUCH GOING ON THIS SUMMER dON?T KNOW IF i?M COMING OR GOING! bUT??THATS THE WAY HU HUH i LIKE IT HU HUH HU HUH! mISS MY BROTHERS!!!!"
After Borne's death, Chris Masters posted on Twitter "So the original Doink passed away.Cant say im surprised.Saw him a week ago and he looked like he was ready to check out! RiP". Later he followed that up with "Ok Tweet deleted!Sorry for offending a lot of you.Im just calling it as I saw it.I was worried!Didnt look so well last week! RIP MattOsborne".
WWE issued the following regarding Borne's death: "Reports indicate that Matt Osborne, aka Doink the Clown, has passed away. A rugged brawler in promotions like Mid-South Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling, Osborne made a major impact in WWE under the greasepaint of a prankster named Doink ? one of the most enduring personas of the early ?90s. WWE is saddened by the news of Osborne's passing. Our deepest condolences go out to Osborne?s family, friends and fans."
Other pro wrestlers shared their memories of Matt Borne on Twitter and Facebook:
-Bill DeMott: "Man, #ripmattborne good man, good talent. Glad I got to know you! #DEMOTTCRACY #NXTMEANSBUSINESS"
-Gregory Shane Helms (AKA The Hurricane): RIP Matt Borne. Before he became one of my fav characters as the original "Evil" Doink I was a fan of he and Buzz in World Class. Dammit.
-Al Snow: "R I P Matt Bourne you left your mark on Professional Wrestling forever My prayers and condolences to your family & friends"
-The Blue Meanie: "Rest In Peace ?Maniac? Matt Borne aka Doink. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones!"
-Viscera: "R.I.P. to my friend Matt ( one tough S.O.B.)"
-Jerry Jarrett: " I was in Pittsburg when I heard the new about Matt passing. I can?t explain how I feel. Jackie Fargo was so intertwined in my career and life that the reality of his death keeps getting bumped from my mind. It also brings back the hurt of losing Tojo. Now Matt is gone. Matt was not only a great talent, but a great friend. You are not supposed to lose a loved one that is so much younger than you are. You just don?t anticipate it. I still sit and recall the good times with Tojo. I will one day sit and recall the good times with Jackie and Matt, but for now, crying feels better."
