Returns and Farewells Dominate SWCW Event
Posted: May 4th 2013 By: CMBurnham
Shakeups continued to occur for the SWCW roster this past Saturday as 3 members returned and an Icon departed...sort of.
The show began with Kareem Sadat announcing that he was taking some time off to focus on a documentary about his nephew Blade. In doing so, he also retired the SWCW Hardcore title. Sadat had been named the Wrestler of the Year in SWCW for 2012, so this departure was certainly a shock to the fanbase, but Sadat assured them it was only temporary. Surrounded by Kevin James Sanchez and Korttni Sanchez in the ring and the SWCW roster outside the ring, Sadat was given a heroes farewell.
Shortly after that, Jonah Turk made his way to the ring area and interrupted the commentary taping for SWCW's event. SWCW Commissioner Havoc, who has been part of the SWCW broadcast team for several months, was confronted and provoked by Turk, who said Havoc's facepaint was "too mainstream". The veteran Havoc couldn't believe that the rookie upstart Turk had the gall to do this and was so outraged that he picked up the announce table and slammed Turk into the ring post with it. Havoc and Turk brawled into the ring and it took security, referees and SWCW owner L. J. McDaniels to separate the. L. J. saw no choice but to fire Havoc,, but as Turk was gleefully celebrating, McDaniels informed him that he would have a match later that night against a mystery opponent.
The first return of the night came right after that. B. M. F. took the ring and explained their actions from Hardcore Hallelujah. Chris Kuhn made it very clear that he was upset because of everything he had done for Kevin James Sanchez while he was commissioner. According to Kuhn, he was supposed to be owner of SWCW. A contract was allegedly drawn up stating this. But Kuhn never got that opportunity after stepping down as commissioner. All these accusations brought Kevin James Sanchez to the ring and KJ made 3 things very clear: 1. He believed that L. J. was a far better commissioner than Kuhn ever could be. 2. He was determined to defeat Rick Russo for the SWCW title and 3. He wanted to kick Kuhn's butt! A 3-on-1 beatdown of Kevin resulted as B. M. F. used their numbers advantage and then things appeared to get even worse as Shane Sanchez returned to SWCW for the first time in 4 months. Shane stepped in and greeted the B. M. F. before moving to the corner where a limp Kevin was propped. But instead of attacking his brother, Shane attacked B. M. F. And when Kevin was able to recover, X-Rated stood together in the ring for the first time in 6 years.
Return #2 was announced by L. J. McDaniels, who found himself in a bad situation. Having fired Havoc, he now needed a commissioner to control the "keys to the crazy house". But L. J. had an idea and brought out Kareem Sadat. Sadat reminded L. J. that he had retired and he intended to uphold that promise. L. J. reminded Sadat that he had a contract and it needed to be fulfilled. So he could either terminate the contract or Sadat could become the commissioner. After asking the fans, Sadat agreed to become the commissioner, which means SWCW may enter its most hardcore period of all.
After intermission, L. J. was back in the ring to reveal Jonah Turk's mystery opponent. The look on Turk's face said it all as Havoc made his way to the ring. L. J. clarified that he had only fired him as COMMISSIONER. Havoc was still an active member of the SWCW roster and he taught Turk a deserved lesson, ending the match with an Implant DDT.
And finally, after X-Rated defeated B. M. F., the last surprise return occurred as John E. Stone came out to face Kevin James Sanchez. Sanchez had defeated Stone at Scars and Stripes the previous year, winning the SWCW All-American title and forcing Stone to leave SWCW. Stone seemed to have let bygones be bygones as he extended a hand to Kevin. But the handshake turned into a sneak attack and Stone quickly revealed his affiliation with B. M. F.
With 3 members of the roster returned and a brand new commissioner, SWCW appears to be settling in for an action packed summer. They should hope it doesn't get too hot to handle.
