Paul Bearer's Sons Unhappy with CM Punk/Undertaker Angle?
Posted: Apr 2nd 2013 By: mikeiles
It is not unfair to say that the current CM Punk/Undertaker storyline isn't exactly living up to expectations.
Indeed, the angle, which has incorporated into the real-life death of Taker's longtime manager, William "Paul Bearer" Moody, has often come across as pretty tasteless. Nonsensical, too. Just what is the deal with that urn?
It doesn't help that CM Punk, generally considered one of the industry's best talkers, hasn't really been cutting the great promos that he's known for. Some (like John Cena) can get away with doing material they may not be terribly fond of in real life. Punk really can't.
No doubt, the former WWE champion is very well aware of how poorly this is coming off.
Last night's closing angle, which saw Paul Heyman dress up as the late manager and serve as a distraction so Punk could attack Taker from behind with the prized urn, didn't help matters.
And it seems even Moody's sons, Michael and Daniel, may now be having issues with the controversial storyline. You may remember that the pair had previously given its blessing, noting to TMZ a few weeks ago that their father would have been fine with the CM Punk/urn storyline.
However, as PWInsider's Dave Scherer notes, Michael and Daniel recently took to their Facebook pages to make some rather critical-sounding comments:
On his Facebook page Michael Moody, son of the late Paul Bearer, wrote the following:
"If anyone is wondering, yes WWE did come to us wanting approval for tonight's storyline. The way it was presented to us was ok. Seeing it on screen was a different story. I don't even know what to say."
His brother Daniel also commented saying:
"Totally different."
Of course, there are still a great deal of fans who are eager to see Taker/CM Punk at WrestleMania 29. No doubt the match itself will be very good.
But the angle? That's been cringe-worthy to watch and it might be no wonder Moody's sons are having issues after previously saying it was OK.
