WWE Spoiler: First Match for Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View Leaked Online

WWE Spoiler: First Match for Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View Leaked Online

Posted: Mar 9th 2013 By: mikeiles

WrestleMania is still over a month away, but the WWE's follow-up pay-per-view, Extreme Rules, already has a match scheduled.

Regardless of what happens at the WWE's flagship event, the two men involved in the Extreme Rules bout will be continuing their feud.

According to WrestlingInc.com, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger will face each other once again on the fourth pay-per-view of the year. Given the nature of the event, it should come as no surprise that the match will be a Submission match.

The article states:

Jack Swagger vs. Alberto Del Rio will be continuing after WrestleMania 29 as a submission match is planned for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

This is an interesting development as it shows the WWE is committed to the longevity of the feud and their WrestleMania match won't be a throwaway bout. Both men have shown great chemistry together in the ring and the feud seems to have aided their respective new roles.

But the continuation of the feud does raise a question: Is this proof that Swagger will not be punished for his DUI arrest?

As has been well documented, Swagger was arrested on February 19 for both a DUI and possession of marijuana. So far, there has been no public acknowledgement of any punishment to Swagger. Even the WWE Corporate website is void of any mention of the arrest.

Swagger's arrest put the WWE in a tough position. At the time of the incident Swagger was not only fresh off his win at Elimination Chamber, but his new angle with Zeb Colter was picking up steam. To date, the angle garnered widespread, mainstream media attention, mostly from angered conservative groups. Even outspoken conservative host Glenn Beck spoke out against Swagger, Colter and the WWE.

It would seem that if the WWE is going to continue their feud past WrestleMania, then there is not going to be any punishment dealt out to Swagger beyond what his arrest would yield by law.

DrivingLaws.org says in Mississippi, where his arrest occurred, for a first DUI offense he would spend 48 hours in jail, a fine up to $1000 and a 90-day suspension of his license. For the drug charge, it would depend on the amount found. Since he was released, it can be assumed the amount was small.

While the article on WrestingInc.com doesn't say who will win between the two at WrestleMania, Swagger seems the likely candidate. Considering how hot his character is now, a loss at WrestleMania would stop him dead in his tracks and make a rematch less compelling.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the weeks leading up to and after WrestleMania.
