Report: Update on WWE's Plans for Jack Swagger and a Possible Replacement

Report: Update on WWE's Plans for Jack Swagger and a Possible Replacement

Posted: Feb 23rd 2013 By: mikeiles

New details have emerged about Jack Swagger's future in the WWE, and it doesn't look good for the Real American.

According to a report in Wrestling Observer's subscriber newsletter (via wrestlinginc.com), Creative was "working late on Wednesday night to come up with ideas, which doesn't sound good for Swagger and Zeb Colter."

As was reported at TMZ, Swagger was recently arrested for driving under the influence and being in possession of marijuana.

Very interestingly, it's noted that the original plan was for Swagger to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXIX.

It's said that "if WWE officials saw fit to change the direction of the match, then Dolph Ziggler would most likely get the WrestleMania match with Del Rio."

This news will be bittersweet for many fans.

Swagger is a fresh face, a solid worker and had an effective mouthpiece in Zeb Colter, so it's unfortunate to see him ruin his second chance as a main-event performer.

However, there are few performers who have worked as hard as Dolph Ziggler has in the last few years.

Since Nick Nemeth debuted as Dolph Ziggler in late 2008, he's very slowly been working his way up the card.

By the end of 2012, he had the Money in the Bank briefcase and was hot off feuds with Orton and Cena, but his momentum has slowed down since.

It would be nice to see Ziggler finally get a real shot at a top spot in the WWE.

Both Ziggler and Swagger have the ability to put on a terrific match with Del Rio at WrestleMania XXIX, assuming it gets the time it needs and deserves, so the audience wins either way.

The only real loser is obviously Jack Swagger.

According to Wrestling Observer, ?If Swagger ends up suspended and loses the WrestleMania match, the arrest altogether would cost him upwards of $250,000.?

More importantly, it's rare that performers get a second chance. They almost never get a third one.
