NOT A Happy New Year For Impact, Inc.

NOT A Happy New Year For Impact, Inc.

Posted: Jan 10th 2013 By: CMBurnham

MSWA fans have recently become accustomed to Impact, Inc. doing what they want, when they want to. With very few setbacks, the gang of bullies has been on a tear threw MSWA since returning in the summer.

With February Fallout rapidly approaching, it appeared that momentum would remain on the side of MSWA Mid-South Champion Johnny Z and his crew. But the events of this past Sunday show there might be hope waiting on the outskirts yet.

For months, MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions Jordan Jacobs and IZW Impact Division Champion Jermaine Johnson have been fending off the challenge of Nemesis. On several occasions, it appeared that Damon Windsor and Damien Morte were on the verge of recapturing their titles, only to see them slip through their fingers. Impact, Inc. have been fully aware of how lucky they have been to escape with the belts and this Sunday it appeared that MSWA commissioner Erica had set up an easy challenge for them. It WAS a title match, but the challengers were the team of Soto Miyagi and the Midnite Rider. Impact, Inc. were elated, seeing a quick victory in their future. And it appeared that premonition would come true later the match started as nothing Miyagi did had any notable effect. But as the match went on, Miyagi and the Rider became more and more effectve, almost as if they had plenty of experience facing Impact, Inc. before. And then the match began to break down and the Rider hit a devastating chokeslam on Jacobs and pinned him!! The most unlikely duo to ever capture gold had won the Tag Team Titles. And as the duo celebrated in the ring, hands went up, masks were removed and Nemesis stood proud as the new tag team champions, finally getting the payoff after months of pursuit. Windsor & Morte exited through the front door while the collected mass of Impact, Inc. stared in disbelief, unable to comprehend their title loss.

Kevin Morgan was no more successful in his venture against IZW Champion Double D despite a promising start on Morgan's behalf. The show opened with Johnny Z hosting his talk show segment Catching Some Z's. It was another confrontation between Z and Double D as they marched towards their MSWA Title match at February Fallout. But Erica had a surprise for D, symbolised by the table in the middle of the ring at the beginning of the show. Their title match was a TABLES MATCH!! And to punctuate the brutality that both men would face, Double D was powerbombed through the table and left in a heap. Before they left, Erica announced that the main event that night would be Double D vs Kevin Morgan.

Questions hung in the air the rest of the show regarding whether D would be able to compete, but when it came time for the match, D came through the curtain with his ribs heavily bandaged. Morgan targeted this injury like a shark smelling blood and it seemed that D was destined to go down in defeat. But as Morgan picked D up and prepared to deliver a Running Power Slam, referee George Knight was caught in the middle and knocked out. D was able to hit the D-Facer, but there was no referee to make the count. Morgan recovered and hit a low blow on D, then a powerslam. As he made the cover, Mark Wilson, who is still a licensed referee despite aligning himself with Impact, Inc., ran down to the ring and began to make the count. Right before he could make it to 3, Bad Boy pulled him out of the ring. While Bad Boy dealt with Wilson on the outside, D hit the D-Facer again and Bad Boy made the 3-count. And then, it was Mark Wilson's turn to experience some payback as D, Bad Boy and Nemesis all delivered some finishers to the turncoat referee before leaving the ring.

The only Impact, Inc. member to have a successful Sunday was MSWA Champion Johnny Z who defeated Crossfire Morrison and managed to bloody his mouth in the process. Despite his victory, Z couldn't happy about the day's proceedings. Now, it is more imperative than ever for Impact, Inc. to be on the same page if they intend to be dominant at February Fallout on February 17 like they have been for the rest of their time in MSWA.
