After much consideration and discussion among the Oklafan Staff, The Scoop will be permanently moved to Wednesdays effective immediately.
"A reckoning is at hand." At least that's what the TNA "1/3/13" promo says and it was revealed during last week's "Impact Wrestling" that Sting is the one returning on that day. The former WCW and TNA World Champion has been off TNA television since the November 8th episode of "Impact Wrestling" where he was taken out by Aces & Eights. On that particular episode, the Stinger was put through a table and was then beaten up with a ball-peen hammer thanks to A&8 member Doc. "Surprise. 13 13, unlucky number for you," Sting says in the new promo. "Aces & Eights, I'm coming to get you. Doc, I'm coming for you. You first." You can see the promo by clicking here.
Steven Borden, son of Sting, has signed a letter of intent to attend college and play football at the University of Kentucky. The younger Borden, who plays tight end, was an all-conference player at Kilgore College, a junior college in Texas. He completed an official recruiting visit to Kentucky on December 16th and was accompanied by his father. Steven Jones of the Louisville Courier Journal wrote a story about Borden's recruiting trip and his famous father, which was picked up by USAToday.com. You can read the entire story by clicking here.
WWE.com posted an interview with Steve Austin. Austin was asked if there was anyone from that era he would have liked to work with but didn?t. He answered "It?s always fun to think about what it would have been like if me and Goldberg had gotten into the ring, to see what would have happened if me and Hollywood Hogan got involved in serious matches, and not in a one-off match. It would have been fun to have worked with a guy like Ultimate Warrior, it would have been fun to do a bunch of matches with Randy Savage, or [Ric] Flair ? I would have liked to work a high-profile series with him. Hell, just because Bruno Sammartino just threw me under the bus a couple of months ago, it would?ve been to fun to work with him. You talk about the entertainment aspect, that?s what wrestling?s all about."
Ted DiBiase, Jr. posted on Twitter "I have to send out a very special thank you to Dr. Dugas in Birmingham! He replaced both of my dads knees yesterday and do an AMAZING job!!"

Oklafan congratulates Steven Hatton, owner and promoter of Federation Wrestling Alliance, on his marriage to his fianc?e Kara on December 22nd.
Oklafan extends its condolences to Big Rich, who's mother passed away on December 24th.
Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Gordon Nelson, who passed away on December 17th at the age of 82. Nelson, a native of Canada, was chosen for both the 1952 & 1956 Canadian Olympic wrestling team, but a lack of funds prevented him from competing at either event. After failing to compete in the 1956 event, Nelson began to train with his cousin, Ole Olson, to begin his professional wrestling career. His biggest success came in California, where he was a 3-time Americas Tag Team Champion. He also held the British Empire Title in Canada and the Western States Tag Team Titles in Amarillo, TX. Nelson had a brief run in Oklahoma in late 1962, only competing in 5 documented matches before moving on.
The memorial for Gordon Nelson will be January 9th at 7pm at Cox Funeral Home in Amarillo, TX.
Greg Oliver of SLAM! Wrestling paid tribute to Nelson in his story "Mr. Wrestling Gordon Nelson dead at 82". You can read the story by clicking here.
William Regal commented on Nelson's passing on Twitter "Just been told Gordon Nelson has passed away.He was a great man.He worked for WCW when I first came to America. He had started his pro career in England as The Masked Outlaw in the 60's and was considered by Eric Taylor(Dave?s dad) as the best of them all.Eric Taylor was a feared wrestler and when Dave came to WCW he asked Gordon who was better,Eric or him.Gordon told Dave that Eric was but Eric said there was nobody who could touch Gordon. That was the kind of man he was.A real tough guy who didn?t care if anyone knew and didn?t need to shout about it.My best wishes to his son Steve and his family."
Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Rip Hawk, who passed away on December 22nd at the age of 82 after a series of heart-related ailments over the past few years. Hawk had a storied career holding tag titles all over the country, and is probably best known for his partnering with Swede Hanson in the Carolinas in the 1960's and 1970's. He was a main event star in St. Louis in the early part of the 1960's and was a staple in NWA territories for many years. He might be best known to modern fans as Ric Flair's first teammate, as Flair was introduced as Hawk's nephew in 1974.
Steven Johnson of SLAM! Wrestling paid tribute to Hawk in his story "Rip Hawk dead at 82". You can read the story by clicking here.
Jim Ross posted on Twitter about Hawk's passing "RIP to pro wrestling villain Rip Hawk. One if the all time greats before cable. Instrumental in launching Ric Flair?s career in Carolina?s."
