Brad Armstrong dies aged 51

Posted: Nov 2nd 2012 By: mikeiles

BRAD ARMSTRONG, one of the most popular men in the wrestling business, has passed away at the age of 51.

The WWE said: ?Saddened to learn of the passing of Brad Armstrong (aged 51), one of four sons of Bob Armstrong.

?WWE understands that Brad saw his physician last week for a medical issue and was found in an unresponsive state this morning.

?WWE extends its sincerest condolences to the entire Armstrong family.?

Brad found fame in the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and WCW in the 1980s and 1990s, and also enjoyed a short stint with the WWE. His last in-ring appearances were for ECW in 2006.

Long-term fans will remember Brad as the fun-loving sweet-giving Candyman character he portrayed in WCW and as the masked Fantasia member of the Fabulous Freebirds combo of Michael ?PS? Hayes and Jimmy ?Jam? Garvin.

Behind the scenes Brad was very well liked and respected among his peers. He was known as one of the best workers in the business, a man who was able to have a good match with anyone and always make his opponent look great.

The son of ?Bullet? Bob Armstrong, Brad hailed from one of the world?s most famous wrestling families and is survived by brothers Brian, better known to wrestling fans as Road Dogg Jesse James, WWE referee Scott and Steve, also a former wrestler.

As tributes pour in from Brad?s wrestling peers, we at SunSport wish to offer our condolences to the Armstrong family and remember how much Brad meant to the wrestling business.
