Former WCW Star Brad Armstrong Passes Away
Posted: Nov 1st 2012 By: mikeiles
According to World Wrestling Entertainment's official website, former WCW star Brad Armstrong has passed away.
WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Brad Armstrong, 51, one of four sons of ?Bullet? Bob Armstrong. Brad Armstrong last participated in the ring for the ECW brand in 2006. WWE understands that Brad saw his physician last week for a medical issue and was found unresponsive this morning. WWE extends its sincerest condolences to the entire Armstrong family.
Armstrong was a member of the NWA/WCW roster during the 1980s and quickly gained a reputation for being one of the better workers in the country. An in-ring technician, he was a key member in the early days of the company's Cruiserweight division revival in 1996 and had a memorable pay-per-view bout against Dean Malenko for the Cruiserweight title.
His brothers, Steve and Scott, were also mainstays of the WCW roster and appeared with Brad frequently on the promotion's Saturday Night program. Third brother, Brian, is known better to fans across the globe as "Road Dogg" Jesse James of New Age Outlaws and DX fame.
Wrestlers from across the globe have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Armstrong, including Jim Ross, Angel Williams, Steve Corino and Curt Hawkins.
JIM ROSS: According to http://wwe.com , sad to report the death this morning of Brad Armstrong @ age 51. Condolences to Brad's family. Great guy.
ANGEL WILLIAMS: (Oklafan Editor's Note: This is former TNA Knockout Angelina Love, not the wrestler with an Oklafan bio) OMG!!! So incredibly sad to hear of Brad Armstrong's passing! He was such a talented and sweet man!! Thoughts & prayers to the Armstrongs!!
STEVE CORINO: Gutted to hear about Brad Armstrong passing. Amazing wrestler & even better guy. Some great times w/him. Reason I drink Sugar Free RockStar!
CURT HAWKINS: Incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Brad Armstrong. Had the honor to work w/ him in DSW. My condolences to the entire Armstrong family.
As a fan, news of the passing of Armstrong is very sad to hear. A fan of WWE for most of my life, I rarely watched Nitro and instead was a faithful WCW Saturday Night watcher. Brad and his brothers were always among my favorite WCW competitors because of their athleticism inside the squared circle. And more importantly, they seemed like genuinely good guys. Brad will be missed by this fan and millions around the world.
