WWE has confirmed that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 23 in April. The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) were asked a few weeks back and they both agreed. Ric Flair is the leading candidate to headline the Hall of Fame class of 2008.
The new WWE DVD "Mick Foley's Greatest Hits & Misses Hardcore Edition" that will be released on March 6th is updated and will include the following matches:
Foley vs. Randy Orton (Backlash 2004)
Foley vs. Edge (Wrestlemania 22)
Foley & Edge vs. Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk (ECW One Night Stand 2006)
Foley vs. Ric Flair (Summerslam 2006)
Speaking of Foley, as things stand, Mick Foley is not planned to have a role at Wrestlemania. He had tried to get a match for the event, which would have made sense with his ?The Hardcore Diaries? book coming out early next month.
WWE has released a list of matches for the upcoming "Ric Flair & The Four Horsemen" DVD:
Ric Flair & Arn & Ole Anderson vs. Pez Whatley, Italian Stallion, & Rocky King (June 22, 1985)
Ric Flair vs. Ricky Morton (Steel Cage Match; July 5, 1985)

For those fans into collecting wrestling DVDs, WWE is selling a package deal of the Roddy Piper, Mick Foley, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Brian Pillman and Andre the Giant DVD's together for $59.99 with free shipping. That's a hell of a deal if you don't have any of them.

The DVD features the entire event (with Jesse Ventura's color commentary) including the main event of WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (w/ Bobby Heenan) as well as the option to turn on a feature where facts about the event and wrestlers will randomly pop up as you watch it. Disc 2 includes the Saturday Night Main Event show that built up the show and Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat and Andre the Giant interviews.
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams' autobiography is now in stock at Highspots.com.
The Irish McNeil Boys Club in Shreveport, LA, home of the MSW Television tapings for most of the 1980s, burned down last weekend. No cause has been determined for the fire yet.
NWA-U announced last week that "NWA Intense TV" will return to TV in April with former play-by-play announcer and current Oklafan Associate Editor Mike Iles back behind the broadcast table. Joining him there will be Oklafan Senior Editor CM Burnham. Also, NWA-U announced that a new NWA Oklahoma Heavyweight Champion will be crowned at there event on April 14th in Wagoner. Finally, they also announced that a permanent home in Tulsa is in the final stages of negotiations.
With the recent split between AACW management and Rick Garrett, which saw the formation of Sooner World Class Wrestling, Damien Strange has decided to remain on the sidelines indefinitely. When contacted by Oklafan Associate Editor Mike Iles last week, Strange said that he was going to concentrate on his concert promoting and possibly getting a wrestling fed started and running in the state of Montana. Strange said that he still feels that Oklahoma is a great area for wrestling talent but the constant bickering among the promoters is not only hurting the fans but the wrestlers as well.
MSWA owner Bad Boy presented the MSWA Tri-State title belt to the president of the "Eyes to the Future" company at the MSWA show Saturday. Eyes to the Future make glasses and other items for children overseas and goes over in December to distribute them free of charge. MSWA's show Saturday was a donation benefit show for that company. The MSWA Tri-State Title had last been held by current MSWA Oklahoma Champion Tyler Bateman, who threw it in the trash after defeating AWOL for it. MSWA officials recovered the belt and cleaned it up for the presentation.
Oklafan sends its condolences out to the family of Mike Awesome. The former ECW World Champion was found dead in his home Saturday, February 17, where it appears he hanged himself. Awesome, who was a cousin to Horace Hogan, made his name in ECW, where he held the World Title twice and the World Tag Team Title once with Raven. He made several enemies in the business when he attempted to leave ECW for WCW while still holding the ECW World title, which resulted in ECW calling back Tazz (who was then a WWF wrestler) to take the ECW World title from him. Awesome's run in WCW was not particularly outstanding for him, as he was saddled with a series of bad gimmicks, including being "That 70's Guy" & "The Fat Chick Thriller". When WCW was purchased by WWF, Awesome quickly jumped over and was the first member of the WCW invasion force to win a title, the WWF World Hardcore Title. However, his career quickly stalled in WWF as well and he soon was released, headed back to compete in Japan where he made his name first. His last appearance in an American ring was at the ECW One Night Stand PPV in 2005, where he and Masato Tanaka had what was considered the match of the night. Interestingly, his only documented appearance in Oklahoma was on the last WCW card held in the state on August 22, 2000, where he lost a Triple Threat Match that also involved General Rection (Bill DeMott) to WCW U.S. Champion Lance Storm.
