Who's the REAL ComPro Champion?
Posted: Jul 19th 2012 By: CMBurnham
Controversy surrounded the ComPro Championship last Friday night. Tim Rockwell was announced as the Champion. UWE Champion Brandon Walker seemed certain that he deserved the belt. And Dutch Hagen, along with manager Richard Pierce, made their return to the company, causing the fans to leave with more questions on their minds then answers.
Hagen had last been seen at ComPro last year when he lost a No DQ/Falls Count Anywhere Match to ComPro Champion Tim Rockwell. ComPro owner Mike Two took great pleasure in stepping into the ring and announcing that Hagen was fired. Pierce was thrown out for good measure as well, but both men made efforts to stir up problems in the company, despite not being employees. Both men were seen protesting outside the ComPro event in November of last year and Pierce somehow managed to gain access to the building during the February event, running out during intermission and proclaiming that he and Dutch had been unfairly treated. After those isolated incidents, both men seemed to disappear and the fans thought they had seen the last of them.
They thought wrong.
For most of this year, ComPro has been dominated with a 3-way feud for the ComPro title involving Rockwell, Walker and the Canadian Red Devil. And on a couple of occassions, music would play in the middle of the main event, causing a distraction for at least one of the participants. Mike Two was never able to determine who was gaining access to the music and again, the issue was eventually dropped as it ceased to happen.
The feud was never dropped, though. And in June, Rockwell was finally able to pin Walker for the ComPro Title. As part of a standard championship contract, Walker had a return match clause and exercised it for the July 13th card. Rockwell decided to up the odds a little, though, as he announced to the crowd before the match began that this would be the last time that Walker would get an opportunity for his title. As long as Rockwell was champion, Walker could never receive another title opportunity. Walker appeared to agree and the match was on. Both men brought everything they had with the understanding that this might be the last time they faced each other in a ComPro ring for a long time. And then, the unexpected, as once again the Canadian Red Devil's music played. But it wasn't CRD who emerged from the curtains, but Richard Pierce. He claimed he was just there to watch and for most of his time during the match, he did just that. But after Rockwell went up and dropped an elbow on Walker's chest, Pierce thought he saw his opening and ran around to grab referee Mark Wilson's ankle.
Only he didn't quite make contact until the three count was completed.
Pierce stared in awe as he seemed to miscalculated. Rockwell was still the champion, but Walker grabbed the belt and scooted out of the ring. And then, as Rockwell stood and called for Walker to return to the ring, Dutch Hagen ran in and Pearl Harboured Rockwell with a chair. Hagen grabbed the microphone and announced to everyone that 9 months prior, Rockwell had gotten him fired from ComPro and taken to the Owasso jail. So 6 months ago, Pierce started sneaking into the back area and messing the with music when no one was watching. It served to cause some mind games and that was what Hagen wanted. He wanted to keep Rockwell off guard. And now, with him in the exhausted position he was in, Hagen hoisted Rockwell up and gave him a Dutch Oven for his efforts.
Shockingly, the Canadian Red Devil came out to make the save for Rockwell as Hagen was attempting to give him a One Man Concerto, but the two grapplers didn't exactly shake hands when everything was over. Walker, frustrated because he had received his last title opportunity, threw the championship belt at Rockwell before storming off. And when everything settled, there were still plenty of questions. Who deserved to be champion? Was Pierce attempting to interfere on behalf of Walker or Rockwell? His action was unclear in that regard. How was Hagen allowed back into ComPro when he had been fired 9 months before? And how is this whole situation going to be resolved? It appears that ComPro commissioner Mike Iles has some work ahead of him prior to the August 3rd event.
