Pro Wrestlers Raise Money For Cancer Patient's Family

Pro Wrestlers Raise Money For Cancer Patient's Family

In the ring, they're mean, love to talk trash, and some of them are just down right arrogant.

But deep down, area pro wrestlers can be compassionate souls.

Such was the case Saturday night when wrestlers from United Wrestling Entertainment of Tahlequah and Compound Pro Wresting of Tulsa came together to put on a benefit show to raise money for an Oklahoma family.

"I've got the best wrestlers in northeast Oklahoma and we're coming together to fight for Chelsea Brooke," said show organizer and pro wrestler Tim Rockwell.

Chelsea Brooke is a 15-year-old girl none of them have ever met.

Brooke was diagnosed with brain cancer about a year and a half ago, according to close family friend Melody Snay.

Snay said the family was dealt another blow recently when a third tumor was discovered.

"They've had their struggles financially and of course having to stay in hospitals and having to stay in motels and stuff like that," said Snay, who represented the family at the benefit show.

Rockwell said that is why he and his friends wanted to put on the show.

"Maybe her family will have the money for medication, gas, motel stays, because you know this is a very expensive illness," said Rockwell.

Thanks to these kings of the ring, the Chelsea's family's struggle will be a little easier going forward.

As for Chelsea, she won't stop loving life, even though it hasn't been kind to her.

"You'll never ever, ever see Chelsea without a smile. Never," said Snay. "It's just amazing."

The benefit show was held at the Boys and Girls Club in Broken Arrow.

No word on how much money was raised.

A similar benefit show held earlier this year collected about $1,800 for another family.

The event was also sponsored by Save Ryder.
