Gallows & Sadat To Try And Recreate History For Crow

On May 31, 2008, one of the most brutal matches that ever took place in wrestling occurred between Kareem Sadat and Crisstopher Crow. A barbed wire casket match. A match so outrageous that it was never attempted again. In the course of the match, Sadat actually set himself on fire before being able to slam the lid on Crow and win the match.

Now, almost 4 years later to the day, that match is being ressurected to determine the winner of the 1st Crisstopher Crow Memorial Cup Tournament. The tournament began with 8 competitors, determined through qualifying matches. Last Saturday saw the semi-finals.

SWCW Hardcore Champion Kareem Sadat took on Tyson Jaymes. Despite being thought of as "the Oklahoma Hardcore Legend", Sadat stuck to the rules, wrestling a scientific match. And the finish was astonishingly clean. Tyson whipped Sadat into the corner charged in, but Sadat sidestepped and schoolboyed Tyson for the win. No chairs. No ladders. No flaming tables. Just a simple wrestling match.

Later that evening, the other semi-final match saw Drake Gallows take on David Kyzer. For both men, the desire to win was increased by outside factors. Kyzer is Sadat's brother and the issues between the two of them stretch back over the past year in SWCW. An opportunity to face his brother one-on-one in the ring and prove himself the better man would satisfy much inside Kyzer. Gallows, on the other hand, had the more deeply personal investment in the match, as Crow was his brother and he had done so much in the preceding year to honour his brother's memory. It wasn't going to be easy for Gallows as he wasn't facing Kyzer alone. L. J. McDaniels & Nikki Knight were present at ringside, up to no good as usual. The match was a longer contest than the Sadat/Tyson match, full of action and drama and many near-falls. But in the end, Gallows was able to force Kyzer to submit to the Wicked Prayer and advance to the finals of the tournament.

At that point, SWCW Chris Kuhn came out and proposed bringing back the Barbed Wire Casket Match for one night, as it was a match that helped solidify Crow's reputation as one of the gutsiest competitors in the state. Both men agreed and the speculation immediately began to run wild. Who will be the favourite in this match? Sadat won the only other barbed wire casket match, which seems to give him an advantage. Plus, he's completely comfortable in a hardcore setting. Gallows has lots of experience with hardcore wrestling, himself. And the internal desire to succeed for his brother has got to be a major intangible factor in this match.

June 2nd, all those questions will be answered as one more time, the Underground Arena will main event with this kind of match. No matter how much blood is shed and no matter who ultimately wins, both men, as well as all the wrestlers on the card, will be doing everything they can for a man they loved and hope to honour the memory of.
