WWE: 5 Men to Replace Jerry Lawler on RAW

Jerry Lawler is the current color commentator on WWE's flagship show, "Monday Night Raw."

Lawler was one of the greatest commentators of all time, but now I think he should consider moving on.

I just don't want to hear him bickering with Michael Cole anymore.

Cole isn't innocent in this, by a long way, but WWE doesn't seem like it's got any intention of getting rid of him.

If I'm being honest, Lawler doesn't entertain me anymore and he's clearly not as good as he once was.

I'm going to look at five men who I'd want to replace Lawler if, or when, he moves from the Raw commentary team.

5. Booker T

At the bottom of my list, we have the six-time former World Champion Booker T.

Booker returned to WWE at the 2011 Royal Rumble after a lengthy stint in TNA.

Shortly afterwards, he replaced Matt Striker on the Smackdown commentary team, and he's been there ever since.

He's improved tremendously since he first got behind the mic, and he can relate to today's fans more than someone like Lawler.

Yes, he still gets things wrong and he can be confusing at times, but you can't deny he's entertaining.

4. William Regal

William Regal is the only man on this list who's still an active wrestler in the WWE, although most of us wouldn't know it.

For the last several months, Regal has been working on NXT and in FCW as a color commentator.

If you've heard his work, you know that Regal is a great talker and he knows how to put the psychology of a match over.

With the recent changes announced to NXT, it looks like Regal won't be used on every show.

I'd take the opportunity to replace Lawler with Regal when Raw passes it's landmark 1,000th show and give the "Real Man's Man" his opportunity to shine on live TV behind the mic.

3. JBL

John "Bradshaw" Layfield, or JBL, has been a commentator on WWE TV before on its Smackdown brand.

That was a few years ago, when he thought his in-ring career was over.

JBL ended up making a return to in-ring competition towards the end of 2007, before finally retiring at Wrestlemania 25.

The thing is, when JBL was a commentator, he was entertaining as a heel.

He was the guy that, although you wanted to hate him, part of you agreed with him.

At this point in time, JBL is happy with his life outside wrestling, so I doubt we'll see him anytime soon, but I'd love to hear him work as a commentator again.

2. Mick Foley

Mick Foley will go down as one of the greatest performers in wrestling history.

He could talk, wrestle and work a crowd, which some of today's roster would kill for.

Like JBL before him, Foley's also worked as a commentator in WWE. He had a short run at that role, lasting four months before leaving WWE.

Judging by his previous work at ECW's One Night Stand PPV and during his brief Smackdown run, Foley would be a great replacement for Lawler.

1. Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman would be my No. 1 pick to replace Jerry Lawler as part of the Raw announce team.

Heyman worked in that role in 2001/02 after Jerry Lawler took his ball and went home after his then-wife was fired.

Paul has only just returned to WWE TV after a six-year absence. He's currently acting as Brock Lesnar's "representative" during his storyline dispute with WWE.

There's something about Heyman that draws you in. It's his ability to tell a story. It's his charisma.

Story-telling and charisma are something that's sadly lacking from WWE commentary as a whole, and Heyman is the perfect man to bring that back.

I know that if I was Vince McMahon, I'd give Heyman whatever he wanted to make sure that he was part of the broadcast team for the foreseeable future.
