Miscommunication Leads To Broski's Breakup

One of the up-and-coming tag teams in the Oklahoma area is apparently no more.

The Jersey Kings, who have been a staple of the Northeast Oklahoma wrestling scene since October 2010, are now a thing of the past.

At one point, Scott Riley and King James were clearly the most popular team in MERC and SRPW. They won the SRPW Tag Team Titles last November and held them for almost 5 months.

But beginning in February, things began to go downhill for the pair. On February 18, SRPW Commissioner Robbie Awesome banned Riley from competition. James found a substitute partner in the form of Kolby Wolfe and the pair were successful in a match against The Future Endeavours. The next show, Awesome announced to the crowd that he had stripped the Jersey Kings of the Tag Team Titles and was going to just hand them to Sam Stackhouse & Crossfire Morrison. Wolfe came out and said he would challenge for the belts and brought Kid Krazy with him. It was a tough battle, but in the end, Morrison knee-lifted Krazy into a Black Hole Slam from Sam for the championship.

Last week on Saturday saw the Kings get their return match for the belts they never actually lost in the ring. But it was obvious from the beginning that things weren't quite the same. Riley did himself no favours when he went for a split-legged moonsault and slipped on the rope, landing on the back of his head. Morrison & Stackhouse, however, were on the same page through the whole match. And that teamwork paid off as Morrison did a Codebreaker to King James and Stackhouse followed it up with a Backstabber for the win.

That wasn't enough to satisfy the champions though as they continued to physically punish James until Riley came into the ring with a steel chair. But as Riley helped his partner to his feet, out of nowhere, he laid James out with a DDT and stood over him, glaring but saying nothing, and then left the ring.

King James had to be helped from the ring to the back and no report has been received on his condition at this point. The physical pain will certainly pass, but the mental anxiety surrounding the break up of the Jersey Kings is something that must be gnawing on his insides daily. Perhaps some of these questions may finally get answered at SRPW's next event on April 21st.
