Joseph Scarpa, better known Chief Jay Strongbow, the No. 2 babyface during the Pedro Morales title run in the early 70s, was reported to have passed away today according to Jim Ross on twitter.
Scarpa, who was a top star under his own name in the 60s in particular, was 83. He got his biggest career breakwhile already in his 40s as a Native American babyface in the WWWF, and would headline tons of small town and mid-sized market shows in both singles and tags against the top heels of the era.
He retired from the ring shortly after the company expanded nationally, but worked into the 90s as an agent and producer.
