Breaking Treyfabe: February Heat
Posted: Feb 19th 2012 By: CMBurnham
The staff of Breaking TreyFabe was notified that there was a disturbance in the force in the guise of someone demeaning our previous post to the effect that it made them feel exactly 38 IQ points dumber and they wished to wash out their eyes with Clorox. We would?ve been more impressed if this individual had used the number 42 however, and perhaps a generic brand of cleaner in their description.
What was even more interesting was that one of the promoters of a local company said this was a ?well spoken? summary of what it is like to read our articles.
The staff and I luckily do not hold grudges but we would like to take the time to remind this company, and all Tulsa federations actually ? that we have willingly chosen to go to every event we can in the Tulsa area not because we are looking for ?glory? or acceptance into the hallowed wrestling ?business? ? not because we choose one federation over the other due to some personal friendships we?ve made ? but because we actually enjoy watching wrestling in all forms.
When the word ?business? is loosely thrown around is when I ask anyone who thinks that fans (ie, customers) are not an integral part of any federation to brush up on reading the Social Contract Theory. For independent wrestling, I?d argue that fans are the most important part of the federation.
Now, we don?t put this silly little blog out for any sort of attention other than giving some of our pals that are in the ring a good laugh and some analysis. The initial intent of this blog was to provide coverage of the Elote matches because we felt it was a fun idea at the time, that we have come to the point where we have to defend ourselves against haters and trolls almost makes it feel like we have finally made it on the Oklahoma Independent wrestling scene ? as if anyone has read the Oklahoma Indy Wrestling Discussion page on Facebook would see ? drama seems to be mandatory and if you aren?t putting down another wrestler or federation you just aren?t doing it right.
By recently defending ourselves, and every wrestler and Federation in the Tulsa area really, the staff of Breaking TreyFabe have been kicked out of the above mentioned forum. Guess if you have never taken a bump, you can?t have an opinion ? or so some think.
As it is, I know I have personally been involved in more flame wars than I could possibly count in a various array of forums from wrestling to music to film to even a Spice Girls forum that I was a part of. Listen, we all have a guilty obsession or two, don?t judge. This was without a doubt the quickest I?ve been banned though, breaking the previous record of when I was banned from the Warlord Royal Rumble forum for stating some dastardly things about the Barbarian?s mother.
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, here is my recap from the February 18th Steel Rage Professional Wrestling show in Sapulpa.
King James and Kolby Wolfe beat Sam Stackhouse and Chris Morrison by DQ. This match was announced to be for the Tag belts even though King James partner, Scott Riley, was mysteriously absent. The four put on a solid match and just when it seemed like Sam and Chris had the upper hand ? a hot tag was made to King James. This new version of the Clockwork Clique was out for blood however, and got themselves disqualified by putting submission moves on James and Wolfe at the same time and refusing to let go.
J.B. and Ray Martinez interview segment. This segment, moderated by commissioner Robbie Awesome, ended with Selenas (Selena with an ?s??.sorry ? had a J Lo flashback?) slapping J.B. and B-Rabbit choking out J.B. from behind. Kyle Everlast came in for the save on this one and Robbie announced a special handicap match with stipulations later in the evening. Basically it was to be Kyle and J.B. vs Robbie, Ray, and Rabbit where if Kyle?s team won, he gets a title show ? if Robbie?s team won, 1) Kyle would never ever ever ever get a title shot and 2) Ray would get back the U.S. title from J.B.
Also interesting during this segment was that Robbie admitted that Ray is that rarest of half-breeds ? that of an Aztec Warrior and a Greek God. It is always good to get some background on the characters when one goes to such events.
Chris Fury beat Kid Krazy by pin. Much like his last match against Stackhouse, Krazy put on a valiant effort that included back to back hurricanranas that initially put Fury on the defensive ? however, Fury delivered a move he warned the audience was coming by saying ?good night Irene? and got a decisive pin.
Sidenote: if I were to wrestle my move to counter the ?good night Irene? would be the ?come on Eileen??perhaps Kid Krazy needs to study up on that counter before he faces Fury again.
After the match Fury warned the crowd that he had more in store this evening, especially for the heavyweight champion Jake O?Brien.
Pork Chop and Jake O?Brien?s match ended in disqualification. In what is the always fun face vs. face match the audience was robbed of a solid match thanks to interference by two masked men, B-Rabbit, and a man in a turtleneck. First they took out Pork Chop and then they ganged up on Jake?nearly vaulting him through the roof. Chris Fury then came out with a chair and let Jake know that he had organized this attack and was coming for his title. Just as Chris was to take Jake?s head off with a chairshot Bobby Burns came in for the save, chasing off Fury and then laying out the man in the turtleneck.
Bobby did not make a complete face turn however, and much like the previous event just stated that he wants Jake?s belt but he wants it fair and square like the honorable Texan that he is.
After intermission one of the SRPW staff was cleaning the ring, making sure it was dry to prevent slips, when Gorilla Nate Martinez made an entrance into the ring and nearly took the poor boy?s head off by giving him as brutal a chokeslam as Sapulpa had ever seen. Early reports from the hospital are that this staff member does have movement in his extremities and should be able to stop eating from a straw within 3-5 years. Gorilla Nate is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Jon Cross beat Shane Cortez and Brandon Groom in a three way dance. This was a very action packed match and Groom was happy to be back in an SRPW ring. At the end though, Jon Cross was able to get the pinfall victory and perhaps set himself up for bigger things in the federation.
J.B. and Kyle Everlast beat B-Rabbit, Ray Martinez, and Robbie Awesome by pin. J.B. speared Rabbit twice to get a clean pinfall victory and a future title shot for Kyle Everlast?.but there was a twist as after the match Robbie stated Kyle?s title shot will be against his friend and partner, J.B. ? at the next SRPW event.
Khaos beat Anarchy in a submission grudge match. Though Anarchy had control much of this match, good prevailed as Khaos was able to possibly put an end to this feud and make Anarchy tap.
Overall a very solid and entertaining wrestling event. Some questions to be asked are:
- Where was Scott Riley? Was perhaps an absent Ace Archuleta behind his failure to make the event?
- Is Crossfire Chris Morrison to be a permanent member of the Clockwork Clique and if so, will he and Sam get a rematch against the Jersey Kings for the belt at a future event?
- How is the federation to handle everyone gunning for Jake O?Brien? Is the only answer a three way dance between Jake, Burns, and Fury?
- Will Gorilla Nate be charged with attempted manslaughter?
- B-Rabbit has shown some allegiance to the Ray Martinez and Chris Fury factions ? what kind of Boba Fett agent for hire is he? What are his ultimate intentions?
- How would a Brandon Groom/Shane Cortez team look in the future ? they worked well together against Jon Cross?
- Is the Anarchy/Khaos feud finally over ? or has it just begun?
- Did I just loosely quote ?Silent Lucidity? on a wrestling blog?
All these questions, and more, to be answered at the next Steel Rage Professional Wrestling event on March 2nd.
Thanks for reading everyone, even you haters, until next time?.
