Carnage Charges Full Throttle Towards New Championship

Carnage Charges Full Throttle Towards New Championship

Posted: Dec 24th 2011 By: CMBurnham

Tradition returned to Oklahoma as once again the Sooner State has an NWA affiliate. And headlining this new collection of talent is Carnage, who reigned supreme after a one-night tournament as the NWA-Full Throttle Action Champion.

8 men were selected to compete in the tournament to become the initial champion. Opening round matches saw Carnage defeat Dakota Storm. As Carnage went for a chokeslam, Storm slithered out and gave Carnage a stiff kick to the back. Storm then ran off the ropes, perhaps on hopes of taking the "Oklahoma Nightmare" off his feet, but the damage wasn't as much as it needed to be and Carnage again caught Storm for the chokeslam and the win.

Al Farat faced off against Li'l Joe. Prior to the match, BYEW Champion Sam Stackhouse attacked Joe as referee Alex Saints was dealing with Farat. Matt Garza came to Joe's rescue and it was apparant that Joe wasn't 100% to comepete, But Joe wouldn't concede the match and preferred to go down fighting if need be. And that's what he did. Even with that pre-match attack, Joe rallied to find some strength and looked to be on the verge of defeating Farat until "The Crimson Prince" brought out his spike and struck Joe in the throat with the referee unable to catch this blatant violation of the rules. 3 seconds later, Farat moved on in the tournament.

Ever popular competitor The Canadian Red Devil met up with Allan Jefferies. This match was ground based with the Devil using lots of holds and attempting to isolate limbs. The Devil eventually won with an inside cradle driver.

The final first round match saw Tom Donovan face off against Matt Garza. Donovan riled the crowd against him, essentially promising to beat each of them after disposing of Garza. He fullfilled the latter half of his promise, forcing Donovan to submit to a Boston Crab, but thought better of his options in regards to taking on the fans assembled at the event.

Round two saw a quick and controversial match between The Canadian Red Devil and Al Farat. The Devil appeared to have caught the veteran grappler with a schoolboy for the win, but in the couse of rolling him up, Farat unknowingly slipped his spike into the Devil's tights. Farat then loudly protested and demanded that referee Alex Saints check his tights. The object was found and the referee reversed the decision allowing Farat to move on to the finals. Neither the crowd nor the masked star were happy about this course of events.

In the other first round match, Carnage disposed of Tom Donovan. Donovan knew he couldn't just charge in and start brawling with the 400-pound behemoth and attempted to pursue some mindgames and stall a lot. It had little effect and after a crushing DDT, the final match was set.

In the main event , Farat and Carnage both men brought their best to the table, knowing that the chance to be recorded as the first NWA-FTA Champion was just one win away. In no surprise, Farat eventually resorted to the spike, but this time, Alex Saints caught him. As Saints and Farat argued, Farat spit in Saints eye, temporarily blinding him. He then turned around and was met with his own spike, which had been taken from him by the referee and picked up by Carnage. Down went the Arab grappler. A revived referee moved over and counted 3 and the NWA-FTA Champion was crowned in the form of Carnage.

But it wasn't a completely happy ending as ComPro Oklahoma X Division Champion Se7en then hit the ring and attacked the champion. Se7en, who had won a battle royal earlier that night to become the #1 contender to the NWA-FTA Title, wanted to make it clear that he was coming for the belt. He targeted Carnage's knee and took him down, then used the title belt as a weapon, slamming it against Carnage's head. After leaving the champion laying, Se7en departed, but Carnage struggled to his feet and promised the crowd that he would kick Se7en's ass in January.

Carnage vs. Se7en is set as the main event for January 21st in Shawnee at the next NWA-FTA event.
