TNA: The Seven People Who Can Save Impact Wrestling
Posted: Nov 19th 2011 By: mikeiles
Let's take a moment and reflect on what we saw last night on Impact.
What started out fairly well bombed at the end. At least, that is my opinion. There should never have been a confrontation between A. J. Styles and James Storm. In fact, Storm should be "injured" and away from the Impact Zone to rest, heal and come back stronger at the end of the year.
Doesn't anyone over in Orlando know how to write a decent wrestling script anymore?
If "Wrestling Matters" so much in Florida, then give it the proper props it needs to stay afloat. Make changes (new tag team champions were a great start) and make titles property you love to hold on to.
Also keep some of the traditional wrestling exploits that we have seen over the years. Get fresher talent and of course, new creative ideas.
It's a lot to ask for, and it's a lot to expect. Wrestling wasn't built in a day, but the scripts, promotions and the marketing seek to be put together in a matter of hours.
And while Vince and the boys are making millions, this operation down south needs an infusion of excitement instead of being a cult following and a niche program.
These people?whether wrestlers, creators or business types?can help save Impact Wrestling.
7. Jim Ross
He has forgotten more about this business than most people will ever know.
While Ross is toiling around WWE and facing challenges from the indignant Michael Cole, Ross's knowledge would be so helpful in bringing along new talent to the company.
Plus, he is a lot better on the mic than Mike Tenay.
6. John Morrison and Melina
Seeing the Knockout's Gauntlet Match last night was a good start, but the Knockout's Division needs more.
Melina and Gail Kim help make this division a great division.
Morrison is getting a US Title shot at Survivor Series, so he may not be leaving the WWE when his contract expires. Maybe he finally gets a push he needs.
But if he leaves, he is already one of the Top-10 talents in TNA.
5. Jay Lethal and Petey Williams
They are gone from the show but not forgotten.
Both could infuse some great energy in the X-Division.
Where is Alex Shelley?
Where is Chris Sabin (injured)?
Where is Zima Ion?
The big four of Austin Aries, Kid Kash, Jesse Sorensen and Brian Kendrick are good but more is needed.
4. John Laurinaitis
I know this one will shock you, but there is a reason for it.
Johnny Ace was signed to a WWE contract after his wrestling career because he could write amazing story lines.
His role now in the company is distorted.
If he is creating new stories to tell, he is at his best - behind the scenes.
3. Shelton Benjamin
Whether he brings Charlie Haas with his is irrelevant.
In my opinion, Benjamin is one of the 10 best talents in wrestling.
He could light the light for TNA for the next decade.
2. Jim Cornette
Another one of those people you won't get but could use.
Cornette is one of the best minds in the business and highly respected.
He could help turn this speeding bus around.
1. Dusty Rhodes
I know this may be a shock to some, but hear me out.
I don't want to see Dusty in the ring. I want to see Dusty back stage.
Some of the best ideas in wrestling history came from his fertile mind.
He also had some real bloopers. But now is not the time to dwell on the bad. Since TNA is part WCW, NWA, bring back the NWA traditions.
