Impact Zone Wrestling ? Halloween Hangover
Saturday November 5, 2011 @ 7pm (ET)
Impact Arena in Lawton, Oklahoma
Live on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv
Not since Mid-South Wrestling has a wrestling promotion been able to capture the imagination and attention of the wrestling crazed fans of the South Central region. But that has all changed as Impact Zone Wrestling (IZW) based in Lawton, Oklahoma has picked up the mantle and traveled down the same exciting path that Mid-South laid the foundation for in the mid-1980s. With strong babyfaces and rugged, convincing heels, IZW is not the cartoonish sports entertainment that you might run across on your evening cable. IZW is a throwback to the days of strong regional territories that infused the 1970s ? 1980s professional wrestling scene.
On November 5, IZW will be presenting its latest iPPV, Halloween Hangover on the GFL Combat Sports Network at GFL.tv at 7:00pm ET. For fans new to IZW there are many convenient ways to watch previous events and catch up on all the storylines and characters. IZW has several FREE shows up at GFL.tv ( a weekly series that airs every Saturday night) including former PPVs and has a tremendous amount of content on its YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/IZWOklahoma. The first thing that jumps out at the viewer is how visually clean and crisp the show is. The productions values of IZW are second to none on the Independent scene. The company puts great importance on the presentation of the product and it adds enormous value to the overall television show.
After watching IZW for only a few minutes you come across another fact and that is the high level caliber of wrestlers on the roster. The IZW locker room is loaded with pros that can have a great match with a broomstick. Most of the top Independent stars from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and other neighboring states fill up the lineup of most IZW cards. Probably the most well-known wrestler is ?The Shooter? Brent Albright. Most fans are familiar with Albright, as a former WWE Superstar on Smackdown!, Gunner Scott. Albright is a former NWA World Champion, ROH veteran and two-time OVW Heavyweight Champion. One of the best grapplers in the world, the most striking thing about watching Albright in IZW is seeing how many fellow IZW wrestlers meet his standards of excellence in the ring. Albright?s opponent at Halloween Hangover, ?The Real Deal? Aaron Neil is a mainstay for IZW as a 4-time IZW Heavyweight Champion and one of the foundational pieces of the company. Neil, resemble a young ?Dr. Death? Steve Williams, with the power and stature of a military tank. The Albright/Neil feud is one of the hottest angles going because of the believability and realism of the storyline. You won?t find a more genuine, old school style pro wrestling angle than this.
Then there?s guys like IZW Impact Division Champion Michael Barry who is the consummate heel, reminiscent of a young Ted DiBiase. A brash villain that can stir the crowd into such a frenzy, many times Barry has had fans try to come over the guardrail to get a piece of him. Barry knows how to push buttons and makes a connection with fans that most wrestlers will never have. Then there?s the current IZW Heavyweight Champion Jermaine Johnson who resembles the Mid-South version of Butch Reed, a dynamic, brash, flashy heel who can not only sing it but bring it in the ring, as his ladder matches in IZW have proven. A fighting champion for sure, Johnson has carried the strap since November 2010. Double D is another wrestler who brings out real emotion in fans. The consummate babyface, D is a high flyer, but can also go hold for hold with any cruiserweight in the world. D was voted 2010 Superstar of the Year and it?s because of his in-ring work and his storylines. D has been in two blazing storylines back to back coming off of a feud with Johnny Z and now in a current feud with Johnson over the IZW strap. IZW does a great job mixing realistic angles and feuds with athletic wrestling and creates memorable stories and characters that have legs and keep their ardent fanbase coming back.
Now is a great time to be a professional wrestling fan. With so many affordable options, IZW should be at the top of any discerning consumer?s list. A well-kept secret inside of Oklahoma for several years now the cat is out of the bag. The next big thing on the national wrestling scene is Impact Zone Wrestling out of Oklahoma. If you are a fan of the old Mid-South, or the current NWA Hollywood, OVW, ROH and FCW you need to check out IZW. You won?t be disappointed. The production values are great, the wrestling is tremendous and the storylines are believable and the antithesis of cartoonish gimmicks. This all adds up to an entertaining show.
Don?t miss the most exciting iPPV of the fall when IZW presents Halloween Hangover on Saturday, November 5 on GFL.tv. This star-studded event will also be streamed live to the GFL Roku Channel, iPhone, iPad and the latest Droid mobile devices and of course all Internet-connected computers.
