Chewin' The Fat With Chubby Dudley: Sting's Career Choices

Welcome Back to "Chewin the Fat"

This week I want to look at one particular wrestler, who achieved a lot of fame in WCW, was the top babyface there for a long time, and who is now in TNA, but never made the jump up north, to work for Vince and the WWE. That person is none of the...The Icon....Sting.

Sting who started as part of Power Team USA & then The Blade Runners as The Ultimate Warrior's tag partner. Who if you watch those early matches, you say to yourself wow...now that is a "Green" worker, who probably shouldn't been put into the ring at that level at the time.

But he made the jump to the NWA which became WCW, which he basically became the face of the promotion. WWF had Hogan, & WCW had Sting. His face was on all the WCW promo ads, posters, commercials, he had his army of Lil Stingers in tow, that cheered him on while he feuded with Flair & the Horseman, Paul E & his Dangerous Alliance, & Big Van Vader.

Then he redesigned his gimmick, into his "Crow" persona, where he was in feuds with The Outsiders, & the NWO.

But throughout those times, he had gone through a couple contracts, and Vince was always wanting to bring him to the WWF, but Sting always ended up re-signing with Turner.

Why????

Yes I understand in the early 90's, Sting was it for WCW, he was on top of the world with them, but in my opinion, if he would've jumped ship, I think he would be a much bigger star then what he became, and would make him a bigger Icon then he is today.

Now I also now, the story I have heard many many times, that at the end of WCW, when Sting decided not to go because he didn't like the product Vince was putting out there, especially after recently becoming Born Again Christian, a few years before & also not trusting how Vince would use his character, thinking he would probably be buried to make it look as though WWF / WWE was a much better product then WCW after all.

So now many years have passed, and now in his early 50's, Vince probably would have no interest in him any longer, and we will probably never get to experience Sting in the WWE, and how Vince would've used him & his character.

So I ask you the wrestling fan....Did Sting make the right career move, or did he make a mistake? Also, do you think he regrets not going with Vince earlier in his career?
