Injuries Plague Matches Featuring Members Of Nemesis
Posted: Oct 27th 2011 By: CMBurnham
Nemesis suffered a big injury a couple of months ago when Rage Logan broke his foot. Now it appears that MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Damien Morte is the latest to be sidelined from the Black-and-White clad faction.
Rage had healed up enough to join his Nemesis partners Morte & MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Damon Windsor, together with Shawn McKeaigg, at the ComPro "Save Ryder" benefit event. All 3 members were scheduled for competition, beginning with Morte taking on X-Cal. This looked to be a battle of high-flyers and some intense action, but it didn't last long. X-Cal connected with a leg lariat, but landed on Morte as Morte was trying to roll out of the way. This impact resulted in a broken clavicle, although that was unknown at the time. X-Cal continued the match, stomping the injured shoulder, then heading up to go for a Shooting Star Press. Desperately seeking something to save their partner, the other Nemesis members jumped up on the apron and pushed at X-Cal, trying to topple him from the top turnbuckle. Referee Mark Wilson called for a DQ due to outside interference, but Nemesis was more concerened about the condition of Damien Morte as they quickly got him out of the ring and to the back.
3 matches later, Windsor & Logan, better known as Greatness On Demand, came to the ring by themselves to face off against representatives of Excellence Personified: Dustin Heritage & MWA MAX-Division & IZW Impact Division Champion Michael Barry, along with long-absent manager pro tempe Lars Manderson. Traditionally hated by the crowd, EP was welcomed with open arms at this event and a battle between members of two of the strongest factions in Oklahoma took place. Shortly after starting, Heritage put Logan in an Abdominal Stretch, then reached to Barry, who reached to Manderson, who then reached into the crowd, forming a human chain to apply extra pressure. Referee Chance Snodgrass remained oblivious to all this as he was checking Logan to see if he submitted. Eventually, the tide turned for Nemesis and Dustin was isolated and worked over by Nemesis, who seemed to handling things well despite the absence of Shawn McKeaigg (who had accompanied Damien Morte to the hospital). But a last ditch move put Heritage in the corner of his partner and Barry was able to make the tag. Entering the ring like a house of fire, Barry leveled his opponents with clotheslines. But Rage Logan caught Barry with a surprise move, putting him on his back, and then ascended to the top rope preparing for a high risk maneuver. This brought X-Cal back out and he shoved Logan off the top (as Logan had tried to do with him earlier). Barry then hoisted Logan up for the Rainmaker, which allowed Heritage to connect with the Superkick and get the win for EP.
Things got no better the next night in IZW. With Morte at home convalescing, Logan and Shawn McHale were left on their own against Ky-ote Joe. And in an odd twist of fate, Joe suffered a seperated shoulder during the course of their match. Despite that injury and the attempted interference of McHale (which was countered by Joe's tag team partner Montego Seeka), Joe was able to get a win, but now appears to be out of action for the next 6 months.
No word has been issued yet on what the status of the Mid-South Tag Team titles will be. Morte is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks and it's possible that the belts may have to be vacated.
