The Scoop

NEWS
It was announced during the SmackDown tapings in Mexico City, Mexico that Mil Mascaras will be inducted in the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame, an event which will be held on March 31st in Miami, FL during WrestleMania weekend. The announcement was done by Triple H after he introduced the 69 year old masked luchador to the Mexican crowd. All of Triple H's words were translated by one of the WWE Spanish announcers and the crowd reacted nicely to the announcement of Mascaras' selection to the Hall of Fame. Mascaras is the uncle of the current WWE champion Alberto Del Rio and wrestled briefly for WWE becoming the first masked wrestler to wrestle in Madison Square Garden and appeared at the 1997 Royal Rumble. You can see the video of the announcement by clicking here.
The new issue of Super Luchas magazine in Mexico has confirmed that Mil Mascaras will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this coming March in Miami, FL. Mascaras is the uncle of Alberto Del Rio, and was one of the five biggest wrestling stars ever in Mexico, and without a doubt, the biggest Mexican star ever in Japan.
Jim Ross, Michael Hayes, Gene Okerlund, Dallas Page, and Roddy Piper are being brought to WWE headquarters in Connecticut this week to tape two round table discussions for WWE 24/7.
"WWE Monday Night RAW" from Oklahoma City did a 3.25 composite rating this week off hours 3.49 and 3.02 with an average viewership of 5,021,000 viewers. While that is up from last week's 3.05 rating, the second hour pulled in far less viewers than the first which is never a good sign. In fact, between 9:30 and 10:45 (Eastern time), more than 1.3 million viewers switched from watching RAW to other programming.
You know when RAW rolls into Oklahoma, you know Jim Ross is gonna get it somehow. And this time it was no different. After the women's tag team match, new interim RAW GM John Laurinaitis invited Jim Ross to the ring and told him that he walked out on Triple H last week after he gave him his job. In Laurinaitis' mind, that makes him an "ingrate." Laurinaitis then informed Ross that he's fired as Michael Cole celebrated at the announce table. Ross immediately walked out and then saluted the crowd at the top of the ramp before heading out. "I'm amazed & grateful @ the support all of you have given me tonite," wrote Ross on his Twitter. "I'm proud of my on air contributions at WWE. More proud of ur support."
One person in WWE noted Monday night that at this point you could probably put together a three-disc set of JR humiliations in Oklahoma.
When the segment started with Jim Ross being called into the ring by John Laurinaitis at last week's RAW, JR claims he had no idea he was going to be fired for the countless time. JR?s wife Jan was sitting ringside, and appeared excited before the segment started.
A day after being fired on RAW, Jim Ross posted the following on Twitter: "I?m not going to Smackdown or PPVs. I?m done as best that I know. Might do some Roundtable type stuff. My services aren?t required weekly."
Jim Ross is claiming that he wasn?t notified about the RAW segment where he was going to get fired by John Laurinaitis live on the show saying that it was a ?complete surprise.? He called it as one of those embarrassing moments you endure and then move on, noting that his wife was there at ringside as well which didn?t help things. He said that the interview that WWE.com tried to get after as he was walking out was a ?TMZ-like ambush? and said he was smart to shut his mouth and say nothing regardless of the
question being asked. Ross added that he?s still working for WWE and involved with the Legends Roundtable tapings that air on WWE 24/7 and hopes to be involved with the upcoming WWE Network as well.
Before the "WWE Monday Night RAW" taping on Saturday, WWE posted the following on Twitter: "Just spotted Jim Ross at the #Raw taping in Mexico City. But is he here to make amends with Raw GM, or confront him? " RAW Interim General Manager John Laurinaitis followed that up by posting the following on Twitter: "The rumors are true: Jim Ross will be part of #Raw in Mexico. And no, I didn?t ask him back to fire him again. But how great would that be?" The Wrestling Observer is reporting that due to external circmstances, they are turning the firing of Jim Ross into an angle starting at the RAW taping in Mexico City.
Jim Ross posted the following on Saturday after the RAW television taping: "Found out about mexico city late Thursday. Not happy to miss OU game but EVP talent & Co could care less. Nice way 2 go out on wk?ly TV."
Jim Ross claimed on Twitter that he was called Thursday night to get on a plane to Mexico City and didn't know about it ahead of time, saying he had to miss the Oklahoma vs. Kansas game on Saturday, but it is his job. After RAW, he wrote he was leaving Mexico and wouldn't be at the SmackDown tapings and said he doesn't know if his angle will continue from here. He also noted that play-by-play announcing in WWE is dead, they want storytelling, holds don't exist, and ripped on Michael Cole which should be taken as being in character. He said the announcers are being Funkhausered, and complained about John Laurinaitis (which is pushing the storyline).
Jim Ross posted the following on Twitter on Sunday: "I?m under contract to wwe. Well paid by team I helped build. Quitting for me not an option. Those that suggest such I feel for. Successf ?"
The birthday of Dusty Rhodes on October 12th was listed on Fox Sports Radio's "Zack & Jack Show" as a D-List celebrity birthday.
TNA was advertising like crazy in Philadelphia, PA for "Bound for Glory". One person in the area noted he'd never seen more advertising for any show in the history of the city. There were billboards on major highways and tons of commercials on sports radio. Even if you had no idea about TNA, you would know about the show. The radio ads called it "the biggest PPV of the year is coming to the Liacorus Center." The billboards had Sting in his joker face paint so older fans who don't watch wouldn't even know who it was. Everything was pushed around Hulk Hogan, with no mention anywhere of Kurt Angle or Bobby Roode.
A. J. Styles responded to Hulk Hogan?s recent comments about TNA?s current crop of homegrown talent like Styles himself and Bobby Roode. He posted on Twitter: ?Frustration setting in when your own guys bury the company that u have worked so hard for??.. Brother!?
Hulk Hogan responded to A. J. Styles's complaining about Hogan's comments on him saying it's frustrating when your own guys bury the company you've worked so hard for by now saying it was storyline (it clearly wasn't since he was in the same interview pushing James Storm and Jeff Hardy, the latter of who Immortal is feuding with, as the guys he thinks should be on top while saying Styles had his chance and didn't get over and he doesn't think Bobby Roode has it). Hogan started retweeting people sticking up for him saying how important he is to TNA, acted like it was all storyline. He was tweeting all night. This is reminiscent of the Billy Kidman stuff more than a decade ago, which he later claimed was an angle, and let to a storyline that flopped miserably.
PWInsider.com is reporting that Bobby Roode was supposed to win the main event of "Bound For Glory" on pay-per-view and become the new TNA World Champion however Hulk Hogan used his influence to have the decision changed. Hogan wanted Angle over on the basis that Roode ? a seven year loyal TNA Superstar ? was still ?not ready? to carry the title. The decision was then reversed to keep the title on Kurt Angle, who was suffering from groin injuries and was in bad shape after their match. Hogan keeps making enemies in the TNA locker room especially with those who helped built TNA after recently he blasted A. J. Styles for missing an appearance apparently not knowing that Styles wasn?t there after he had to go back home following the death of a family member.
He has been teasing it for a few weeks now and yesterday TNA pulled the plug on heel Hulk Hogan, clearing the way for the return of the red and yellow Hulkster. "The red and yellow is back, Jack," Hogan wrote on his Twitter on Monday following the pay-per-view. "Thank God today for my perfect health, abundance, and greatness that is my birthright. And for my friend Sting that is a beautiful, spiritual being that keeps getting greater every moment. Life is perfect, brother," headded. Hogan helped Sting after their match when Immortal stormed the ring to attack the former TNA and WCW champion with several chair shots. Sting begged Hogan for help and Hogan had a change of heart, ripping his t-shirt and cleaned house with the Stinger as the fans went bananas. You can see the ending of the match with the Hogan turn by clicking here.
Last Thursday, Jeff Jarrett posted the following on Twitter: "Just confirmed a huge meeting next Tuesday in Orlando in regards to AAA takeover?all hands on deck?"
On "ESPN Fantasy Football Now", Jeff Jarrett and his wife Karen were on video touting their fantasy defense locks of the week. Right after, it was mentioned that the Jarretts were getting ready for "Bound For Glory", TNAs biggest pay-per-view of the year, on Sunday night.
Ultimate Warrior will be appearing with Winds of Plague at their Halloween night show in Los Angeles at The Wiltern. He will be introducing the song "The Warrior's Code" which is in the band's latest album "Against the World."
Tommy Dreamer's suitcase with his gear didn't arrive with him for Saturday's match with Terry Funk on the Awesome Wrestling Entertainment pay-per-view show.
Lots of problems with Saturday night's Awesome Wrestling Entertainment's pay-per-view. The reason everyone acted confused in the Terry Funk vs. Tommy Dreamer finish was because the ref counted three about ten minutes early. The Kevin Nash vs. Ricky Morton segment was put together by Nash, and shows that any thoughts of him being in touch as a booker and that 1999 wasn't a fair chance would be out the window as this was beyond awful as a PPV main event. Not that there was much chance for Nash vs. Morton in a "real fight" to begin with. After all the Internet promos the two did, the live crowd, which looked good, was more into Jim Duggan doing "USA" than any of the other guys on the show. The show featured a ton of advertised people such as The Midnight Express vs. Mulkey Brothers match (they did a Bill Mulkey vs. Dennis Condrey dark match), Rhino, Tully Blanchard, Baby Doll, Lita, Ivan Koloff and Buddy Landel all not appearing on PPV.
On Friday night's show, Conan O'Brien told a joke about Hulk Hogan no longer supporting Obama. He followed it up by saying Obama isn't worried because he still has the support of The Iron Sheik and Triple H.
Arda Ocal of "Aftermath" on The Score Television Network recently sat down with Angelo Mosca, who just released a book entitled Tell Me to My Face. In the piece, Mosca talks about his rivalry with Gene Kiniski, Jimmy Snuka, and Iron Sheik being his best opponents, and a peculiar party trick that Abdullah the Butcher used to do to entertain his friends. Yopu can watch the feature by clicking here.
Hacksaw: The Jim Duggan Story, written by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Duggan and Scott Williams, is set to be released by Triumph Books in April 2012.
Mick Foley posted the following on Twitter: "YES, I WILL be on an upcoming episode of ?30 Rock?. I?ll let you know details as they arise."
T. C. Vreeland of BleacherReport.com recently posted a story entitled "WWE/Impact/Indys: The 35 Hottest Women in Wrestling Today". Ranked #1 was Velvet Sky. Among the others ranked include:
17. Lacey Von Erich - daughter of Kerry Von Erich
