JR's Blog: JR on RAW Tonight, Mexico City Trip, Q&A's Addressed, JR a Sellout?, New Products on Their Way! Sauce It!
Posted: Oct 17th 2011 By: CMBurnham
It's good to be home if only for a short while. Here are some random thoughts on a new, blog. #SauceIt!
I received short notice, as in Thursday night, for my trip this past weekend to Mexico City but it was an eventful and historic trip nonetheless.
Being a part of the first Monday Night Raw ever in Mexico will be memorable. The live crowd was unique in that they were very traditional in the way that they reacted to what they saw.
The high fliers seemed to be the most popular by and large.
It appeared that many fans did not understand much of what was being said in English.
WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio was cheered heavily at times with the crowd chanting "Mexico, Mexico" to the man who will team with Michael Cole tonight to face John Cena and yours truly on Monday Night Raw.
You heard correctly, the main event of Monday Night Raw tonight, taped Saturday evening in Mexico City, will be Cole/ADR vs. JR/Cena.
Other thoughts on the Mexico City trip:
Had some great food while there and made sure that it was authentic Mexican. Unfortunately I likely OD'ed on the refried beans.
I spent more time going thru the customs line at the airport than I did on my flight from DFW to Mexico City which was approximately 2 hours.
Yours truly could have set a record for amount of bottled water consumed in two days.
WWE staff manages a wonderful, international tour. Very well organized.
Anxious to hear how bad Cole verbally guts and quarters me on commentary after the main event, tag match was made and if King helps his old friend out. Should be some colorful dialog on tonight's RAW.
Must have gotten 100 text messages during the night Saturday from friends keeping me updated on the OU vs Kansas college football game. I had big plans for the weekend in KC with travel plans made to support my Sooners until I was informed otherwise.
So, I hope that you enjoy Raw tonight. I will never be confused with a Brisco or a Funk but hopefully our main event, tag team 'match' will be entertaining for those watching. At the end of the night, I genuinely enjoyed the experience but will likely never be in that position again.
Other Random Thoughts:
WWEShop says they are planning on having our 4, new Beef Jerky flavors and the new, All Purpose Seasoning ready to roll out this week or next at the latest on http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss. Remember that WWEShop ships worldwide and they have all the info you need on shipping, etc at the link I've provided here.
Also, as all foodies know one doesn't have to cook outdoors for JR's BBQ Sauces to be effective condiments. Need suggestions? We got them as do many others who follow us. BTW, I cooked pan fried potatoes and onions recently and used nothing but our All Purpose Seasoning and they were amazing. One seasoning for the entire dish. Awesome.
Getting lots of emails on whether or not JBL will return to WWE TV. John addressed this himself a week ago and said he would love to be the Raw GM but the monied Texan isn't interested in returning to the ring as a wrestler. JBL is a great talker who would be an asset in any WWE platform that he was placed. Bottom line, I don't see John returning for just for the hell of it as his lifestyle right now is enviable. JBL spends a great deal of time playing golf in Bermuda where he primarily resides.
John was one of the smart ones who got out of the ring while he could still tie his shoes and he did significant financial planning while he was earning good money in WWE. Too bad so many of John's peers don't have the discipline or common sense to do the same.
Plus, John is not one of the snake oil salesmen who will milk a retirement storyline to death as so many before him have thus rendering the 'ultimate stipulation' meaningless.
I'm told by some fans that I'm a gutless sellout for continuing to work for WWE after "how you've been treated." These critiques, eye rollers to say the least, must be coming from bottom feeding adults or kids who have never had a job and are still living with mommy and daddy.
Other than by a handful of individuals, I am treated wonderfully in WWE so please don't base what you see on a TV and confuse it with day to day life.
Do I think that the interim GM of Raw is a little full of himself? Absolutely? Did he "run me out of talent relations?" Uh, no and for those that believe that you might want to do a little more homework.
Would I be interested in being the RAW GM? Nope. It's an old role that needs a total facelift...no jokes please at yours truly's expense.
Anyone can quit and one can argue that is one of the things that is wrong with our country, people quitting on their goals, quitting on committments, and quitting on doing all they can to make positive contributions in their professional and personal lives. I am not a quitter.
It should be an interesting evening Wednesday when Mean Gene hosts the next, two Legends Roundtable discussions that feature Michael Hayes, DDP, Roddy Piper, and me. Should be an entertaining panel if everyone speaks openly, honestly and utilizing 'sound bytes' so that friendly, confrontation and conversation can ensue. I love these productions and feel that they are as much, if not more fun, than broadcasting weekly TV.
Many fans of MMA either love or hate Chael Sonnen. For the record, that's the name of the game. Great perfomers have the gift to make fans want to pay to see said performer win or to get their ass handed to them. Sonnen is a lightning rod who has many verbal gifts and if not for horrific advice from his corner between the 4th and 5th round of his epic fight with Anderson Silva would have beaten arguably the great MMA competitor alive today.
UFC is going to have to battle overexposure, staff burnout, etc as they continue to grow with Fox, etc but one thing is definitive; UFC needs all the main event, PPV selling, TV ratings earning stars that they can muster. Having some one like Sonnen who can both fight and talk is a huge benfit.
Gut feeling says that the upcoming Lesnar vs Overeem heavyweight tilt won't see three rounds. Someone is going down but the longer the fight goes it favors the former WWE Champion. I only hope Brock is going to be 100% and that his standup defense has been addressed by his camp.
Remember to check out http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss for all our great products all of which make great gift ideas.
I expect many on the internet to have a great dealto say about 'JR wrestling' on Monday Night Raw tonight but I will tell you that I do my best.
You're personally invited to follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ.
Enjoy Raw and Boomer Sooner!
