Team Johnny Z Triumphant At The Impact Chamber!
Posted: Mar 26th 2011 By: CMBurnham
Few structures provoke fear like a steel cage. Men who enter devolve into animalistic tendencies, prepared to claw, rip and tear into each other. It's almost become cliched to say that two men enter and one man leaves. But what happens when you have 10 men enter?
For the third year, the Impact Chamber event has sought to bring a conclusion to some of the most intense feuds in IZW. Some of those feuds are over titles, such as the issue between Awesome X and IZW Tag Team Champions Nemesis. Some of those issues combine a desire for gold with a personal betrayal, such as the problem between Montego Seeka and IZW Champion Jermaine Johnson. And some are deeply personal. Michael Barry returned to IZW and attacked Aaron Neil, breaking his arm. He then mocked "The Real Deal" with a fake cast of his own. Both men wanted at each other and would get their chance in the Impact Chamber. And then there was Double D and Johnny Z. It started as professional jealousy. It grew into arrogant abuse of authourity as Z forced Erica to be his personal assistant so that D could keep his job. Now, D would do anything to get his hands on Johnny, even put his health and career on the line against the owner of IZW and the leader of Impact, Inc. In the Impact Chamber, everything evens out.
D started the match, but before he could get to the cage, Johnny Z made sure that the odds were in his favour. He blindsided D, busting him open after throwing him into the side of the cage like a lawn dart. This allowed IZW Tag Team Champion Damien Morte to enact some serious damage and things didn't get any better when Michael Barry arrived as the 3rd entrant. With Jordan Jacobs at ringside, it seemed like 3-on-1 for Double D (even though Jacobs couldn't get in the ring.) and those odds weren't letting up until Barry accidently clotheslined Morte. This allowed D to briefly rally, but he was soon met with a bulldog by Barry. At this point, Morte applied a crossface and Barry latched on with a Boston Crab. It looked like D was going to have to submit, but then the countdown ended and Aaron Neil came to the ring.
Neil didn't come unarmed, either. He brought a chair with him and slammed Barry in the head with it. Then, after patiently waiting until he turned around, Neil THREW the chair at Morte's head. Barry had recovered from the first shot, so Neil was kind enough to deliver a second shot to his cranium. And feeling unsatisfied with that, Neil then delivered a thunderous shot to the forehead of Morte with his cast. Both men were bleeding profusely afterwards as the effects of the chamber became very obvious. Not wanting Barry to feel left out, he provided a cast-shot to "Mr. Saturday Night" as well, then introduced both me to each other through a doubel noggin-knocker. At that point, the countdown ended and IZW Tag Team Champon Rage Logan entered the ring, but was quickly met with Neil's cast. Neil was fighting all 3 men while Double D recovered in the corner from the beating he had taken earlier. Desperation drove Morte to spray green mist in Neil's face and then Nemesis took over, working with Barry and attempting a triple submission spot by locking cross armbreaker and leg breakers simultaneously on Aaron. The focus then became the broken arm of Aaron Neil, but before too much damage could be done, Kevin Morgan came to the Chamber.
Morgan presslammed Morte and made him the first elimination by pinning him. But as Morte was leaving the ring, Jordan Jacobs took advantage of the open cage door and slid his crutch in to Michael Barry. Barry hit Morgan so hard in the back that the crutch bent. As Barry began to take over on Morgan, Xavior came to the ring. Not satisfied with entering the chamber the traditional way, Xavior didn't wait for the referee to open the door. He climbed the outside and came over the top. This led to a 5-man tower spot which sent Xavior crashing to the mat before he could do anything to assist his tag team partner. With Xavior stunned and Double D still recovering, Morgan & Neil stepped their game up. Morgan incapcitated Logan with a powerbomb while Neil locked Barry in a sharpshooter. And then the odds became even greater for the fan favourites as Montego Seeka came to the ring.
In one of the more memorable moments of the match, Xavior threw Rage Logan towards the cage, but Logan jumped and grabbed on. Xavior then climbed up and delivered a Flatliner from the top rop to the mat. Xavior was able to pin Logan, but referee Mark Wilson was busy dealing with Barry and Neil and couldn't count the pin. And that bought enough time to allow the IZW Champion Jermaine Johnson to come in. Johnson showed why he held that title by making a drastic shift in the dymanic of the match. He brought the IZW Title belt into the Chamber, allowing Michael Barry to slam Aaron Neil in the head with it, eliminating Neil. Barry then gave a "Saturday Night Special" to Kevin Morgan on the belt and "The Awesome One" was history. Finally, Johnson delivered an "Energy Shot" to Xavior and he was also eliminated. This left a relatively fresh Montego Seeka and a still-bloodied Double D, who everyone seemed to have forgotten about, but who reminded them of his presence by springboarding on the group of rulebreakers. Seeka then delivered a flying kick to Barry and he was gone from the match. But just as quickly, Logan spit mist in Montego's eyes and Johnson connected with an energy shot, sending his former BLK-OUT partner to the dressing room. That left it at 2-on-1 with one more man left to come. And that man wasn't going to be helping Double D in any way, shape or form.
Like the "good soldiers" that they are, Johnson and Logan held Double D prone as "The Natural Born Leader" Johnny Z came to the ring, replete in his new robe and tights. With Erica reluctantly by his side, he preened and promendaded around the ring to get to the door. And all that cockiness and attention-getting backfired as Double D rested, kicked Johnson into the Chamber door (which slammed into Johnny), then hit a "Moonlight Drive" on Logan to eliminate him. Now it was 2-on-1 and this wasn't just any 2 as Johnson & Z had plenty of experience tag teaming with each other in MSWA. Johnny & Jermaine quickly begin with the double team moves and Johnny puts Double D down for the pin, but yanked him up at 2, indicating that he wanted to dish out more punishment. A sign of cockiness? Perhaps. And it backfired, but not for Johnny. Instead, Double D reversed an Energy Shot, pinning Johnson.
Now it was down to one each. Or at least it should have been, but Jermaine wasn't so willing to leave the Chamber and stuck around to dish out a little extra punishment. Johnny then executed the Final Impact, but it was only good enough for a 2 count. Sensing the end was near, Johnny backed D into a corner and hit The Big Boot (which he had attempted earlier and missed) and finally got the 3 count on D. As D lay prone in the middle of the ring, Erica ran into the Chamber to check on him. However Johnny was going to have none of that and yanked her up by her hair, then forced her to put his robe on him. All of Johnny's teammates returned to the ring. Morte had his head heavily bandaged, but Barry and Logan had cleaned themselves up and seemed to be suffering no ill effects from the lacerations they suffered earlier. As one, all 5 stood over Double D to celebrate their victory. Michael Barry even went so far as to take the microphone and sing "For he's a jolly good fellow!" and Jermaine made the ridiculous claim that Johnny had won the event all by himself. As a last message to D (and to the fans), Johnny hoisted D up and delivered one last Final Impact to end the show.
Try as he might, D seemingly cannot get the best of Johnny Z. But he keeps trying. And now that Johnny has resigned his administrative position and returned as a fully active member of the roster, he seems guarateed to make D's life miserable. It seems like everything is going to way of the founder of Impact, Inc. Is there anyone that can stop the onslaught of Johnny Z?
