Former Partners Deliver Bloody Valentine In Title Feud
Posted: Feb 17th 2011 By: CMBurnham
For the better part of two years, Jesus Rodriguez and MWA Tag Team & ComPro Champion Dutch Hagen dominated the ring as Legion 13. That all ended when Dutch turned his back on the fans and allied himself with Richard Pierce. After Dutch put TAP Champion Shane Morbid on the injured reserve list and took the ComPro Title from him, Jesus was the first person to step up and try to take that title away. And it took 3 different "plans" to prevent Rodriguez from becoming a 2-time Champion.
On January 22, Pierce announced to the ComPro crowd that they were not going to see a title defence that night as he had already defended the title two weeks prior against Dustin Harp. He then inquired of ComPro owner Mike Two as to who he could possibly have as an opponent. They had taken out Harp and Morbid was on the shelf. He even pointed out that they couldn't wrestle ring announcer C. M. Burnham because he was "a fat sack of saggy flesh". At that point, Rodriguez arrived and immediately Hagen began to beg off, with Pierce saying they were just there for a photo shoot. Rodriguez would have none of that and the match was on. The match came to an abrupt end when Hagen overconfidently grabbed his title belt and showed it to the crowd, then placed it on one of the turnbuckles. Rodriguez grabbed Hagen's head and shoved him into it, then rolled him up for the pin. Mike Two joined the elated crowd and told Hagen that he was very lucky this hadn't been a title match, but that luck wouldn't last through the next show. He ordered Hagen to defend his title against Rodriguez and the match would be a First Blood Match!
Pierce's mind was in overdrive for the next two weeks, coming up with plans for how to prevent his champion from bleeding. And he came up with some doozeys. After Rodriguez was announced, Pierce came to the ring and displayed to the crowd a custom made title belt which he was giving to Hagen as a Valentine's Day present. This provided enough distraction for Hagen to make a sneak attack on Rodriguez. Not only that, but Hagen had donned his old green mask to try and ensure that he could not be seen to bleed about the forehead. Rodriguez was prepared for this, though and spent the first minute or so concentrating on removing that mask, only to discover that Hagen had his original silver mask on under that. More precious time was spent getting that piece of facial decoration off and finally the champion was barren of any obvious impediment to clearly being able to see him bleed. With his original plan gone sour, Pierce called for "Plan B", which involved Pierce trying to gnaw the forehead of Rodriguez open with his teeth. Hagen even took a moment to sit down on a chair in the ring (which he had brought in to try and inflict injury with), but couldn't rest long as Plan B also proved to be a failure.
With his first two plans out of the way and unsuccessful, Pierce called for "Plan C"...as in "catsup". Hagen immediately distracted referee Chance Snodgrass and Pierce threw a large bottle of ketchup in the ring. Hagen then handed Snodgrass off to Pierce to maintain the distraction while he shook the bottle of ketchup up. While he was doing that, Rodriguez had moved over to the side of the ring by the announce table and grabbed the timekeeper's bell. At almost the same time, Rodriguez slammed the bell on Hagen's head as Hagen inundated Rodriguez's head and shoulders with ketchup. Hagen rolled to the outside, blood pouring out of his forehead while Rodriguez lay in the middle of the ring, uncertain of what he had been hit with. When Snodgrass turned back around, he saw both men apparently bleeding and had no idea which had happened first, so he had no choice but to announce that the match was a draw.
Pierce quickly helped Hagen recover and the champion grabbed his title belt and left out the front door. Mike Two arrived, obviously irritated that Hagen was still champion, but also astounded that Snodgrass had mistaken ketchup for blood. He yelled at the referee for this, then sent him to the back, promising to deal with him later. Mike Two then called Rodriguez over and said that he would receive one more title opportunity since this match didn't have a clear winner. Two asked Rodriguez what kind of match he wanted, but Rodriguez put the decision in the hands of the fans, who heavily chanted "Hardcore!" Mike Two agreed and announced that on February 25, there would be a Fans Bring the Weapons Match Hardcore between Hagen & Rodriguez. There would finally be a winner and if Hagen loses, he will be fired!
Much of this match now lay in the luck of what the fans bring to have used, but both men can plan their strategy to an extent. The Hardcore rules certainly seem to favour Hagen, as Richard Pierce can get involved without any repercussion, so Rodriguez should probably have some backup planned to counter the wiley manager. Rodriguez's first run as champion was marred by the tactics of his then-manager Ray Martinez. Rodriguez wants to prove to the fans that he can be a worthy champion while Hagen cares about nothing else but reaping the fame, fortune and other benefits of the title without displaying any of the dignity. This fued WILL end on February 25th. No ketchup this time. There WILL be blood. And one man WILL stand supreme.
