Legal Action Allows For New Champions

The title picture for MERC became a little more convoluted thanks to the legal shenanigans of the new champions, The Ring Intruders. Jon Cross & Fuel gained the belts without beating the former champions, Bad Bromance (who also hold the UWE Tag Team Titles).

Cross & Fuel had become the #1 contenders to the titles by defeating the up and coming tag team of The Jersey Kings. But questions arose as to when The Ring Intruders would get a shot at the titles, as Justin Lee & MSWA Oklahoma Champion Max McGuirk had not defended those belts since winning them on October 10, 2010 at the very first MERC event. So the #1 contenders called up their lawyers and proceded to go about acquiring the belts outside the ring.

When the Ring Intruders arrived in Mounds this past Saturday, they didn't come alone. Their newly acquired manager, Dustin McGowan, preceded them with the tag team titles and presented them to his charges. McGowan said the legal injunctions were successful. Since they were the #1 contenders, they got the belts due to the inaction of Bad Bromance. Fuel & Cross then went on an ego-driven promo rampage, running down Mounds and declaring that they would never be beaten. At that point, Khaos arrived and said he had a surprise partner and that together they would take the belts away. The Intruders demanded to know who that partner was, but Khaos was coy, saying it would be revealed at the main event. The champions became more insistent and Khaos then said that his partner was someone that both men knew very well. He then revealed a pipe from under his shirt and rolled in the ring, prepared to take on both champions by himself. But Cross & Fuel slid out and made a strategic withdrawl to prepare for their unexpected title defence later that night.

When the main event came, the champions confidently arrived. But when Khaos came out, things became more tense as he unveiled his partner: Anarchy 2nd!! The challengers set out to make the champions' reign one of the shortest in Oklahoma, but it just wasn't destined to be the case. Anarchy 2nd hit Sliced Bread #2 on Cross, but wasn't the legal man in the ring at the time. Referee John the Encourager became preoccupied with forcing Anarchy out of the ring. Khaos, meantime, hoisted the dazed Cross on his shoulders and turned around, but was met with a superkick from Fuel which allowed the champions to retain their belts.

While the Ring Intruders have the titles, their reign doesn't look to be easy. The Jersey Kings started their climb back up the ladder be defeating The Stars of Chaos. And the Texas Outlaws always pose a threat in any federation they compete in. Still a relatively new team, Jon Cross and Fuel will have to quickly work on in-ring chemistry in order to survive as champions this year.
