Can Excellence Personified Survive Against ComPro's Best?

Posted: Nov 3rd 2010 By: CMBurnham

It seemed like Excellence Personified had everything going for it when they chose to invade ComPro. While they made their presence known earlier this year, and even captured the ComPro Tag Team Titles, it wasn't the same as when they returned in August and dominated the company. But after that initial assault, things look like they're not going for the faction that once was heralded as the greatest assemblage of talent in Tulsa wrestling since the VIP Crew.

August 14th saw 3 titles fall under control of EP as Se7en won the ComPro Oklahoma X Division title, the Jet Setters took the Tag Team Titles and Michael Barry collected the Showtime Title. Combining those titles with the ones they held in TAP and MWA and it appeared that EP was prepared to dominate Tulsa and the surrounding area.

However things just haven't been going the way that Mike Iles probably wants them to. While EP is still strong in MWA (with Jack Legacy as the Heavyweight Champion and Dustin Heritage holding the MAX-Division belt), TAP has shut down operations and EP's success in ComPro hasn't been off the charts. September saw Michael Barry "defend" his title against Mike Iles. Contractually obligated to defend at every show, Barry & Iles concocted a plan to insure that they retained that title. After what both men laughingly described as a "grueling" match, Barry brought out the Fingerpoke of Doom and Iles collapsed in the middle of the ring. Barry then covered him for the 3-count. These shenanigans infuriated ComPro owner Mike Two and he set up a main event where Dustin Heritage, Se7en and Mike Iles had to face Legion 13 and Tim Rockwell. That match almost ended in disaster as Rockwell had Se7en ready to go for a German suplex. Se7en threw his leg back, crotching Rockwell, but also inadvertantly giving a nut shot to referee Mark Wilson. With the ref down, all six men entered the ring. Dustin & Se7en held Rockwell so Iles could slam his shoe into his head, but the shoe was taken away from Iles by Dutch Hagen who threw it to Rockwell. Tim clobbered Iles with it and covered him as the recovered referee made the 3-count.

Unable to garner victory in tag team competition, EP ventured into singles matches this past Saturday. First up saw Dustin take on MWA Tag Team Champion Dutch Hagen. Hagen arrived wearing a La Parka mask and Dustin managed to rip it off, which revealed the more familar green mask he had been stripped of by EP. Dustin once again ripped that mask off of Hagen's face, bringing to the top the original silver mask he wore when he debuted. Hagen removed that one himself and then set down to work to gain a victory against his opponent. Heritage wanted nothing to do with Hagen in a one-on-one situation and went to great lengths to avoid contacting his foe. When Hagen hoisted Heritage up for a Dutch Oven, the other members of EP that were present hit the ring, closely followed by Jesus Rodriguez and Tim Rockwell. After a brief skirmish, all the EP members retreated and prepared for the next match.

The next match saw Se7en take on Jesus Rodriguez and very quickly the same result occurred. All members of both teams hit the ring and tore into each other, leaving the referee no choice but to declare it a double DQ. But Rockwell took the microphone and announced that Mike Two had approved a match between himself and Michael Barry later that night and he didn't care of Barry brought the Showtime Title or not, as all he wanted was to get his hands on "Mr. Saturday Night".

In what should be no real surprise to anyone, Michael Barry vs. Tim Rockwell saw both men counted out of the ring, the third non-decision of the night. And this brought Mike Two out to confront both groups. He said that since it was obvious that they wanted to get ahold of each other, he was going to arrange things to make that happen. On November 20, there would be a 4-on-4 Elimination Match. 4 members of Excellence Personified take on 4 men handpicked by Mike Two from the ComPro roster. Although there are no other stipulations announced at this point, it seems like this will resolve the issues between both groups no matter which way it goes. But the mystery now remains as to who both teams will be made up of. Michael Barry will have to defend the Showtime Title and the Jet Setters haven't defended the Tag Team Titles since winning them. So unless some double duty is pulled, it looks like EP may be calling in the reserves. Lars Manderson has no title to defend and was the only member of EP to claim a full-fledged victory as he was declared victorious over ComPro Champion Shane Morbid in a Fans Bring The Weapons Match. Ken Masters (aka Kenny Campbell) has made his presence known in ComPro on one other occasion and might be up for a return. And perhaps Brad Michaels might make his ComPro debut that night.

As for the other team, it seems pretty likely that 3 of the 4 men will be Tim Rockwell and Legion 13. But who might they take for the 4th? Shane Morbid has a beef and is certainly in line for some revenge. The Canadian Luchadore and Evan Newcastle were both beaten by EP members for titles and might want some payback. Or maybe Mike Two has a ringer in place. Could he have Rocco Valentino or Romero Contreras on speed dial to come in and be the 4th man?

No matter who it turns out to be, the match will be amazing to watch. 8 men in two teams of 4. Each striving to prove that they're superior. Whichever team wins, ComPro's future may be in the hands of that assortment of competitors.
