Former MWA ring announcer Bud Guffey was the guest on last Thursday's "MWA Radio Network" with host Scott James. The show was going along smoothly, then acting MWA Director of Operations Mike Iles called in. Iles fired Guffey in the ring on September 10th in Spavinaw. They ended up debating nearly the entire show. You can listen to an archive of the show by clicking here.

Multi Channel News at has a story on SmackDown moving Friday night to Syfy. The first show is live from Oklahoma City with a loaded lineup. With Raw and Smackdown both part of the NBC Universal family, expect more direct promotion during Raw of the SmackDown show later in the week, and vice versa. It?s still unclear why Syfy made the decision to pick the show up and keep it on Friday. SmackDown will be the station's most popular show, and will help boost the station's weekly prime time average to where it may threaten top ten, but Friday is probably the worst possible night except maybe Saturday for the show. Matches advertised locally for the show are Kane vs. Undertaker for the world title, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus for the WWE title and John Cena vs. Wade Barrett with the rest of Nexus as lumberjacks. Some of those matches will be dark. Interesting that the names being advertised for the show include Edge, Chris Jericho (who won't be there), Tiffany, The Miz, John Morrison, Ted DiBiase, Maryse, Christian (who won't be there), Evan Bourne, Eve Torres and R-Truth (who will be there as they make mention of on Raw tonight). After an absence of more than five years, Paul Bearer, the legendary manager of The Undertaker, made his WWE return on SmackDown last Friday. The last time Bearer was on WWE television was at the Bash pay-per-view in 2005 where it was the Undertaker who "buried alive" his longtime manager with cement. Then in 2007 he made a surprise appearance at a live non-televised WWE event in his home town of Mobile, AL., where he managed The Undertaker and Kane. Since he left WWE in 2005, he took the job of a managing funeral director at Coastal Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Moss Point, MS.

Paul Bearer said on his web site that he actually was first asked about returning four months ago, signed his contract on August 1st, and that he was hidden away backstage at Tuesday's tapings so the wrestlers didn't even know he was there until he popped up in the final angle on last night's show. He said he can still work indies, which means he didn't sign a full-time contract, similar to the contract Jim Duggan had when he was working as a part-timer on Raw a few years back.

PWInsider.com is reporting that work has begun on a DVD dedicated to the career of Jerry Lawler and it is scheduled for a 2011 release

The WWE Women?s title has been retired and WWE will be using the title of Unified Divas title from now on as evident from RAW on Monday. The change will mark the end of the Women?s title which was introduced in 1956 and which was first won by The Fabulous Moolah. Layla is being billed as the last champion to hold that title which she won from Beth Phoenix in May of this year. Phoenix, who is currently injured, said on Twitter that it saddens her that the title is being retired. ?I am so grateful to have had the honor of holding it,? she wrote. Another former Women?s champion, Mickie James, shared the same sentiment. ?The retirement of the Women?s Championship breaks my heart,? she wrote. ?The nostalgia and the legacy built off the backs of every woman who paved the way for women like me?Who gave it credibility, honor, prestige and truth!? Trish Stratus holds the record for the most wins, with a total of seven and 828 combined
days as champion. Moolah ranks first with a combined 10,778 days as champion winning it on four different occasions. Mickie James ranks third when it comes to different title runs, with five wins.

RingsideCollectibles.com has announced their first ever Jakks Pacific TNA exclusive. It will be a two pack featuring Hulk Hogan and Sting and is due out in December. Hogan is based off of the time he was attacked by Jarrett in Japan will come bloody with a cloth t-shirt and bandanna. Sting is based off of his TNA title run last year and will come dressed in red and black with a cloth entrance jacket and a die-cast TNA world title.

Oklafan extends a belated congratulations to Wage on the birth of his daughter 3 weeks ago.

Oklafan was saddened to hear of the death of Jorge Gonzalez, who passed away due to complications from diabetes at the age of 44. Gonzalez was a former member of the Argentine Olympic basketball team and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, but even though he was 7? 6 ? ? and weighed 405 lbs, he was considered too slow to play in the NBA. Jim Herd and Jim Ross spearheaded the Turner organization to sign him to a wrestling contract, where he used the name El Gigante, with the idea of creating a next generation Andre the Giant, as Gonzalez was more than eight inches taller than Andre and a better athlete. But he never fully grasped wrestling and only lasted two years before his big-money contract wasn't renewed. WWF brought him in shortly after, billing him as "the eight foot Giant Gonzalez." He was given a similar push as Great Khali, first overpowering Undertaker before a blow-off match at WrestleMania IX. He put Undertaker over at house shows for the rest of the summer and was done with the company at that point. He wrestled a few times after that outside North America. In recent years he had been wheelchair bound due to the effects of a long battle with diabetes. Gonzalez has 2 documented Oklahoma appearances as El Gigante. On July 12, 1990, he defeated The Shadow at an NWA event in Tulsa and on Jan 19, 1992, he wrestled Big Van Vader to a Double Countout at a WCW event in Oklahoma City. Oklafan extends its condolensces to Gonzalez?s friends and family.
