Recap of IYH Online interview with Baby Doll
Posted: Sep 30th 2006 By: CMBurnham
On September 21, 2006 www.inyourheadonline.com was graced with the presence of former World Class Championship Wrestling, and National Wrestling Alliance star Baby Doll. During a one our interview hosted by Jack and OIB, Baby Doll reminisced about her wrestling past, spoke of her upcoming wrestling reunion/fan fest shows, and even managed to hand out a few musical recommendations as well. The following recap briefly documents some of the highlights of the interview, however for the full Baby Doll treatment, be sure listen to the interview in its entirety at www.inyourheadonline.com.
The interview begins with Baby Doll commenting positively on her experiences at the In Your Head message board: http://inyourheadboard.proboards27.com/index.cgi#general, where she was given her own section entitled "Ask Baby Doll". She remarked that even as wild as some of the questions asked of her were, they still paled in comparison to letters she received from prisoners during her television career.
The subject then turned to the number of appearances she is making at various fan fests and wrestling shows throughout the remainder of the year, (details of these appearances can be found at: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/babydollnicklaroberts). Beyond the enjoyment of meeting her fans, she also admitted to being a fan herself, and said that she too has autograph book in hand when attending these shows.
During the course of the interview, she was asked by both the hosts and callers about several individuals involved in the wrestling business, including: Tony Schiavone, Ole Anderson, Jeff Jarrett, Missy Hyatt, and Sam Houston. Despite some gentle prodding by some of the questioners, Baby Doll kept all of her comments pleasant, and never took the opportunity to say a disparaging word about any of those she worked with, with one exception, (sorry, but you'll have to listen to the interview to find out who she referred to as "a real butt").
Baby Doll devoted some of her interview time addressing a question about the role of women in wrestling. She reflects on her start in the business, and he desire to pursue it as a career and contrasts that to what she sees in the WWE's Diva contest winners. She also addresses the type and amount of interaction she believes women should have with male wrestlers during matches, and notes that it is possible for a woman's role to be such that it makes the interaction too unrealistic.
In what is becoming a reoccurring subject on the IYH show, Baby Doll spoke about the fact that she does not yet receive compensation for the use of her image in video footage of old wrestling shows that are once again being made available to the public. Similar statements were made by Ivan Koloff in a prior IYH interview.
Baby Doll, was pleasant and gracious throughout the interview, even maintaining her composure when one exuberant caller attempted to get her to agree to go out and have drinks with him. She even gives us a slight view of her personal life, while discussing her ex-husbands current situation, and her relationship with her daughters, (one of whom makes a brief appearance on the show). This is an interview not to be missed for those fans interested in all things Baby Doll.
We also have Alex Shelley and Ricky Morton interviews up this week. Please joins us live every Wednesday at 6:00 PM Eastern at http://www.inyourheadonline.com with upcoming guests Antonio "The Promise" Thomas and Eric Bischoff
