Memorial to a Great Man...General Skandar Akbar ~ Jimmy Wehba

Posted: Aug 27th 2010 By: mikeiles

As many of you know, the wrestling world lost a great man, wrestler, manager, friend, father, uncle, brother & companion, last week. His family held a beautiful Catholic Memorial Service on Tuesday, 8/24, in Whichita Falls, TX. A lot of the local wrestlers, and some that traveled long & far like Danny Hodge, Mike Ryckoff, Jim Ross, Rod Price (pictured to the right with Baboose & the Sportatorium Bell) and many others attend the Memorial but more importantly his family & companion for 12 years, Sandy Nance, were there to show the world what a great man Jimmy Wehba was. We, the workers, knew about Akbar in the wrestling world, and at the service on Tuesday we learned about his family. What a true blessing it was to be surrounded by his family. The church hosted a bereavement dinner for the family after the service. The boys had planned to go to a local restaurant afterward to have our own dinner to tell stories, do a 10 bell salute etc. When Diane, Akbar's sister, heard that we were going to go to a restaurant, she stopped us and asked all of the boys to come and eat with the family. What an honor!! We had a wonderful time, ate great food, and did the 10 Bell Salute with the boys & family!!

Thank you to the Cluely Family.... You will always be part of our Wrestling Family!
