Double D Shows Up Johnny Z In 2 Federations
Posted: Aug 16th 2010 By: CMBurnham
When you look up the word "ego" in the wrestling dictionary, one of the pictures you see next to the definition is that of MSWA Mid-South Champion Johnny Z. The man has long believed that he is above the law, whether that be in his own federation or in companies such as MSWA or GPCW. With the backup of Impact, Inc., Johnny has run roughshod over any new talent to cross his path. And those bully tactics have landed him many enemies. He's always been able to handle those, but recently he seems to have met his match in the form of "Double D" Dustin Daniels.
Daniels has slowly but surely been making a name for himself in MSWA and IZW. He's lost his share of matches, but he's also won a lot as well. He knows he's not the largest dog in the fight, but that's never stopped him. And the thick skin he's had to develop as a result has allowed him to stand up to bullies such as Johnny Z.
July 24 saw Double D lose in the main event to IZW Champion Aaron Neil. The next week, the IZW show opened with all of Impact, Inc. being interviewed backstage. Aaron Neil issued a challenge to Al Snow for September Slam, but Double D interrupted and said that he had lost to Aaron last week, but beaten him previous to that, so he wanted his rubber match. At that point, Johnny Z stepped in and started to address Double D, but backed off and shifted his attention to his valet Erica instead. He told Erica to get her boyfriend out of his face or bad things would happen and obviously he could tell who wore the pants in the relationship. Double D went to attack Johnny Z, but the numbers were certainly not on Double D's side. Impact, Inc. commenced a backstage beatdown, then continued it out in the arena.
Johnny Z grabbed the microphone and addressed a fallen Double D while the rest of Impact, Inc. stood surrounding the fallen star. Johnny said that Double D was everything he didn't want IZW to be. He was small. He was weak. And he was just like all the fans. At that point, he sent the rest of his friends away and called for a referee, so he could deliver a humiliating defeat. But after a long, hard fought match, it was Double D who ended up getting the pin and Impact, Inc. was outraged.
That outrage turned into violence the next week as Double D again defeated Johnny Z,but this time it was by DQ due to the interference of Impact, Inc. While Oklafan doesn't have all the details, word was sent that Double D was transported from the arena in an ambulance after a gang-style attack by Impact, Inc. Johnny thought that he had rid the wrestling world of another thorn in his side, but that wasn't quite the situation.
Double D's track record over in MSWA wasn't much better. He'd suffered singles losses to members Jermaine Johnson & IZW Impact Division Champion Bernie D. But a much more significant event was happening last Sunday when the group arrived as it was Johnny's birthday. And a very happy gathering came to the ring that day, saying that it was the one-year anniversary of them bringing honour, prestige, etc. to the area.(This is wrong, as Johnny actually entered the federation on June 3, 2009.) Jermaine again offered to step aside from his personal pursuit of La Reina de Corazones and allow Johnny to defend his title against Double D. Johnny informed everyone that it was his birthday and they should bow down as a present to him. He then said that he had to make some plans for his birthday, so he should leave and asked for some music, which he received.
Those plans became apparent during the match where Aaron Neil faced TAP Champion Shane Morbid. Jermaine Johnson distracted the referee. This allowed Johnny to come out with a steel chair and wallop Neil. That way Morbid got the pinfall. Johnny then rubbed more salt in the wound by taunting him with the belt after the match.
When time for the main event rolled around, Double D & La Reina came to the ring. Although he had been to the hospital the night before, Double D shrugged off the idea that he needed to take some time off to recouperate from the wounds as he knew he had a chance that might never come again. Daniels fought a well-thought out match, but Johnny, ever the conniving veteran, found ways to counter Daniels' offence and take the upper hand. An unexpected mistake almost gave Daniels the win as Johnny slipped on the ropes while trying for a superplex. He was able to pull the move off on a second attempt, but that might have given Daniels the time to recoup and gain a two count. Later on, Johnny grabbed the title belt and went to the top rope. La Reina pushed him off, countering that move, but Johnny was able to recover and eventually deliver one of his signature moves, the big boot to the face. Again, the misstep in his plan didn't allow him to take home the victory and it was still only a 2 count. In one final attempt for a win, Double D rolled Johnny up in a small package. While the referee dealt with La Reina on the outside, Jordan Jacobs jumped in the ring and rolled Johnny on top. But Mark Wilson turned around and saw Jacobs exiting the ring, so he went to admonish him. This allowed La Reina to enter and roll Daniels back on top. Wilson turned around and counted, but STILL only a 2 count. At that point, Impact, Inc. sensed that there was no way their leader was going to come out of this victorious, so they entered the ring and triple teamed the challenger, resulting in a DQ. Jermaine Johnson & Jordan Jacobs held Daniels while Johnny took the championship title and slammed it across his head. This busted Daniels open, but no mercy was shown by the champion as he locked Daniels in a Cobra Clutch. Finally, Aaron Neil came to the ring and yanked Johnny's pants down, exposing a pair of Iron Man underwear. He then hoisted Johnny up and delivered a Death Valley Driver, leaving the champion laying in the middle of the ring before his cronies rescued him. As they were carrying their leader to the back, Aaron took the microphone and wished Johnny a happy birthday, as the crowd signalled their approval with thunderous applause.
At this point, the extent of injury (or re-injury) to Double D is not known. But Daniels certainly made an impression on Johnny Z over the past couple of weeks and there is no way he can be treated as anything but a potential contender from this point onwards. Now Johnny has yet another person he must worry about when it comes to threats to his title and his reign of terror over MSWA & IZW. And the fans have one more person they can put their faith in to destroy the evil empire that Impact, Inc. is sustaining.
